105/105 vs 105/100 cam timing

Those are the two numbers i hear most on the 12.
How does the 105/105 change the power delivery compared to 105/100.

Gerard,
I have some info but no straight apples-to-apples comparison; fuel changes, cam type changes, cam CL changes, 1361/1375/1427 changes, weather changes.

Doubt the info would be useful to you, but if you wanna look at a big spreadsheet , you KNOW I will send it to you.

I'll take your word for it.
Can you give me the short answer,
raise or lower the peak hp?

short answer is closer lobe centers give your more peak power and move the power band up. So 105/105 keeps the exhaust cam open a litte bit longer for more rpm breathing.
The exhaust side of the zx12r has some flow problems due to the desing angle of the exhaust valve to the header. 105/100 will give more torque than 105/105. Im running 105/103 and really like it. But actually you might find better luck with 106/101 as the engine responds more to the intake cam than the exhaust cam.

A smaller LC number on the exhaust side means more retarded exhaust cam timing (and more overlap), whereas the opposite is true for the intake side.

For example; I run 105.5 in. and 99.5 ex. on my 2000 1270.

I get 98 ft. lbs. of Torque by 3,800 rpm, 102 ft. lbs. by 5,000 and a Torque peak of 111 ft. lbs. by 7,600 rpm.

190.3 h.p. comes in as soon as 10,000 and holds it to rev limit.

In all honesty there will be very little seat of the pants difference between the two. I degreed mine at 105/100 I think.... it has been so long ago. I gained no horsepower but it did flatten the area under the curve a bit and was worth a little over one mph at the strip.

These are just my personal conclusions. No real scientific facts....
