It will take more then a couple of hours
Even if we took the interstate almost all the way, it's still over 150 miles one way, from the hotel. This would easily work out to SIX HOURS PLUS of travel time. Like it has been said, it gets REAL DARK on those back road and I for one, ain't too keen on riding them at 10 pm.
Again, here's a possible route.

Not only does it get real dark..but some of the best roads around are in Asheville. I have a good friend who is a local who said he would try to meet us and show us some of his favorites. As long as we're there we should take advantage of them. Anybody else think the same?
Otis, if it's any consolation, I figure the route to Asheville will pass through the gap and then probably follow Rt28 towards Cherokee. That is a very nice ride in itself, not to mention the Blue Ridge Parkway.

It's about 2 hours from Asheville to the CroT. Figure time from Alcoa to, and through, the gap...with Gas and rest stops and it will probably be about 3 hours each way.

Jamie's Wife runs the pla
I just got off the phone with the French Quarter. It seems that Jamie and his wife are finallizing a divorce and she got the restaraunt. So he isn't involved with it anymore. However, if he is in town, he may come over to meet us. I was told to call back on Tuesday morning to talk to his wife to see if it was possible for him to meet us.
I went ahead and made a reservation for us. I took my best guess as to the time I figured that if we arrive at 4pm, take an hour to eat, and take some local twisties back towards the Parkway, we should get back to Alcoa around 9pm.... just before dark. Does that sound ok? We need to call on Friday morning to tell them how many are coming as well.
If those arrangements aren't ok with everyone, there is stil plenty of time to change them. I just wanted to make sure that we would be able to get in on a Friday night.
Any comments?

Keep Us Posted
If the reason for going there was really the food and the ride to and from thens that what we should do. If it was to see Jamie then that is something else.
Keep us posted we don't have anything engraved in stne.

It would be nice to meet Jamie, but regardless, it is a really good ride and a nice dinner. I vote to go either way.

I'll be there early tuesday morning
I am working 1/2 day tomorrow. Then I have to come home and bore a 225hp yamaha V-6 (home buisnesses can be a pain in the ass sometimes). Then I'm gonna rest some and leave fla midnight-2am so that I go through atlanta very early. I hate the traffic in that place.
