ZZR 12

Hrm... Well GF does not like the back of the 12R at all. She loved the ZX-11 though. If I change will have to sell the 12, but not quite ready to do that. Has anyone read anything on the ZZR12 yet? Any reviews, any anything?

Pick up the new issue of Motor Cyclist. They liked it. Big, comfy, decent steam and handling.

It shocked me......

Motorcyclist really ranted about the ZZR1200. I couldn't believe they were saying so many good things about a Kaw, a shocker to say the least. Seems like the bike works pretty good and is a step up from the old 11. Some numbers for you straight outta the mag: 145.2 bhp @ 9750 rpm, 87.1 ft. lb. or torque @ 4500 rpm. Sounds pretty good eh?

In their cheers and jeers thing they listed this as their verdict "It may be a recast ZX-11, but for power junkies who don't need a ZX-12R it's the ticket. We're pleasantly surprised".

Oh yeah....

Also, it ran a 10.12 @ 136.90 mph quarter too. Not too shabby for a sport tourer, not shabby at all.

hmm

145.2 Bhp? I thought it would be in the 120's. I had heard the 140-150 but thought that was claimed. Maybe this wouldn't be that bad after all. Someone start talking shit about the ZZR before I sell my 12R.

Me too....

From what I had read about the bike I figured it wouldn't even equal the old 11. Kaw sort of "snuck" this little jewel in on us. It's a good article on the bike, they even got it out on the track !!!! Also said that at first it was never intended to be sold in the US, more for the European market, or something to that effect. Even though I actually don't care much for Motorcyclist, they did do a good job with the article. The bike is a little heavier than an old 11, and around an inch longer but they said it handled like a "Really really good ZX-11". I'd say that the biggest problem I see with the bike is the more or less non adjustable suspension, but they said it worked good, and that the bike seemed to be geared toward bigger riders.

I tell you a 10.12 is smokin' for a bike of that size, hell that's smokin period!!!!

Cool. Sounds like I need to get the cams and pistons from it and dump them into my 01 ZRX1200. Right now she makes 132 rwhp - Akra, Factory 2.5 jet kit with large single K&N, +4 degree advance.

Over here, the ZZR is on the front cover of virtually every magazine or bike newspaper.

Every one has rated it VERY highly. They reckon Kawasaki has done an awesome job in what was just one year of development. They also said, why why did they not do this four years ago when the XX came out.

I have had mine for 4 weeks now and she hit speed limiter in top gear last night on a two mile straight. I thought the 3 busa's i waxed at the Elvington flyers was a fluke..not so. She is fast abd has an awesome midrange, better than stock Busa and 12s IMHO.

Handling is excellent.

Big thumbs up for K. A bit of a kew.

There's a "NEW" superbike in town! 10.1 quarter, sport-tourer my ass. This bike should be on the cover of every bike mag in this country also. It's making more HP then the GSXR-1000, and can be ridden ALL day! This bike will spank the XX, and probably the new one coming soon. Cycle World dislikes Kawasaki so much they didn't even mention it in their 3X3 comparo in the June issue. If it was in the comparo it would have knocked out the busa as the best of both worlds (Which is ridiculous)! If I didn't have a ZX12R the ZZR1200 would be parked in my garage.

Well then

I guess its decided, no one will flame me for the ZZR12 (I just hope I am still welcome around here). Now I got a ZX-12R, PCIIIR, Akro (still have stock pipes in garage) 14,500 miles, just had valve adjust, full fluid change, new front pads, new BT010 front, 3000 miles on rear 010. With a Scorpio alarm (600.00 setup w pager and battery backup). And a Muzzy fan. Couple SMALL dings on side fairing and one small scratch on the can.

I will prolly sell the parts first here if anyone wants them, pipe and PCIIIR that is. But wont be for a couple months.

FYI, We've got a ZZR scheduled in for pipe development in a couple of weeks. I'm thinkin' a pair of oval slip ons as well as the usual.

LOL..very true..it needs some good old silver duct tape applied in a few judicious areas.

I do not want to get smoked by a touring bike..that is one quick bike. Not my style, but it would be great fun to catch the unitiated at the stoplight....:P

I'm looking at one of these REAL hard. The only things I DON'T like are:

Rear tailpiece - ugly?
Lack of good instrumentation - why?
Lack of adjustable suspension - Lower price or fix!

Lot of good reasons to buy. Cheaper to buy, run, insure, & maintain than the ZX12R (I love the bike, but it's getting a bit too pricy for me...)

Long distance capability - 6+ gallon tank...cool!

Relaxed riding position

What do you all think???

Doug: Volunteer for beta testing... Make sure you make both "quiet" & "loud" baffles available...

Is very tempting for those reasons...But honestly, do I need another motorcycle? What I'm thinking of getting is maybe a commuter bike of some kind. Maybe a MuZ...

I'm not too crazy about the lights fore and aft. I think the bike is a great concept but too much of a porker and the dash layout isn't too fetching either. Maybe if it were black....Naw, think I'll just get some risers for mine.
