IMO: DO NOT touch that 1317 unless you know what you are getting into. It is an offset block, and potentially VERY, VERY tempermental.

I am a big fan of Muzzy's but that block should have warnings on it (even for experienced builders)

I think aftermarket rods would be a good investment on any offset bore engine. Hopefully a good set of carillos will keep things inline nice.
