Shift Light

I know that MSD and dyna has them but are their any other brands available? How hard are they to hook up? Who has one on their bike?

Dyna lite (the big one) and digital box is perfect. VERY visable day or night, infinitely variable settings for when the lite comes on. I have the Dyna lite but not the Dyna box, mine has pills. It works fine, but why use pills when you don't need to? Buy Dyna you won't regret it.

Very easy to install, even I could do it without problems.

Hey, Harry, are you going back to the drag track or with your fancy suspension are you going railing??? or both???

KZZ1 has one on the Busa...It is alot more accurate then watching the tach.

I'll get some info from him.

Well I hope to go to the drag strip on wed and sat.I went to maxton today and I'm going to see how fast my bike will go with my big ass on it next year.I wish I could afford another 2000 ZX-12.I know my suspension settings so I can change it back and forth.I am definitely going back to the gap next year and will have been camping at TWO several times before the ZX-12 gap event. I looked at a dyna today on a bike at maxton and I liked it.I'll be going to Prostar drags in a couple of weeks so I'll get to check what's available. It's handy to hear from people that have them and how they like them

Angi - I am interested to hear what kind KZZ-1 has and how he likes it.

Yosh EMS

Yosh has one on their ems. That would be a sweet deal if used with their speed shifter and an optimized fuel and ign curve.

Mine hits the limiter at about 12.2 on the tach, about 11.7 on a Fluke. I have my light set for 11.2, but push it "into the light" a bit on 2-3 and 3-4 now & then. Hitting the limiter even for a slip second ruins my already marginal ET's; thus the 11.2.

who is it that makes the race shifter that will cut the ignition long enough to put it into gear? from what I understand, when the lever is under pressure it will switch without the clutch. I saw it somewhere, I'd like to get one along with a gear indicator

Silver

You can get an Airshifter or an electric shifter...This can also be wired in to the shift light so that the bike shifts automatically at the correct rmp level.

My hubby has a shift light on the Busa....but I won't ride it if he wires it to the shift light...That's no challenge!!

I bought the Auto Meter Mini Shift-Lite and RPM Activated Module and although it works, I don't recommend it. The penlite is too small and the pills (for selecting rpm which sets off the lite) are old tech.

I'd buy the dyna kit http://www.dynaonline.com/english/sminder.htm

As far as a button shifter, like ZXGirl says there are basically 2 options, the Holeshot PS3 solenoid driven unit(no air tank) and the air shifters (several, notably Muzzy's)
I have the electric one http://www.holeshot.com/ and love it.

good luck. The shift light and button shifter combo is WAY fun if you drag. If you don't drag, I would spend that $700 on other stuff.

I'm thinking the Dyna as you suggest entropy and the airshifter set up you have on your bike ZX-12 Girl may be the way I go as the pneumatic actuator uses the gearshift lever for leverage.

Yosh EMS question.

You guys don't seem to be interested in the Yosh stuff. I has all of this covered minus the air shifter. It has 3 selectable maps (perfect for NOS!), a user definable shift light with 2 modes for warning and shift, it also has a speed shifter incorporated. So you get all the toys with full fuel and ign capabilities.

My question is. Why don't you guys think that it is worth using? Has it had problems?

DSMS-4
Shift Minder System W/Shift Light, 4 Cylinder
6,000 to 13,875
$198.00

That's the one that Kzz1 has on the Busa....(He still in the garage)I remember when they hooked it up, it only took about 30 minutes.... I raced the day before they put it on and the day after....It took a little over a tenth off my time and added 3-5mph...

It's pretty accurate and much easier then watching the tach!!
