POSTING PICS
Why cant someone make a place to post pictures on the internet that is not a fuck fest to use. (print room etc.)
Why are they all so fucked up and overly complex.
I have had pictures to post for the board for months and months but I dont have the time or patience to work with these fucking piss poor picture posting cluster fuck sites.
Theres so much garbage to wade thru... All I want is 2 icons, create an album and upload to it.
And why is it every website now wants a password and your life story? I have so many passwords for sites, its hard to keep them straight.
There, I'm done venting for now.

hrm
Freek and other admins should be able to answer this one. If I crate a web space under a domain name and open a ftp to upload to is that all that is really needed to be able to do this? I have a unused domain name and a 120gig storage array not being used. The SDSL line (784/784) may not be the fastest thing but it should be sufficient.
The one issue is I WILL NOT have a anoonymous FTP up on port 21 (that is used for outlook web access anyway). Hrm will set it up tonight and send out the address this evening when I get home. I can clip 10-15 gig for use by the board. GF will freak if people drop porn on there though so dont do it. Also there will be no real photo album. Just upload the pic set yer link and use it. If the BW becomes to much will let everyone know.

Sounds good. Is there a way to have some kind of file structure to group pictures?
I just spent another 20 minutes at image station. What a waste of time. I'm just going to let that whole mess I created and tried to work with, rot and take up space. Fuckem, they can delete the whole mess, I'm done with it.

I will set the folders up as add and read, no delete or execute. And give dir browsing, so you could create own folders. I'll wipe movies if I find them, major destroyer of BW. But it will be free.

ITS UP
Tested and seems to be working. FTP to upload pics to is 208.57.109.158 PORT 9000. URL for pics to show up here is www.blackrainbow.com\foldername\picname. Freek if you could do instructions would appreciate it. There is 1.2 gig free on that drive for now. I can add later if need be. REMEMBER THIS NO PORN, NO MOVIES, I will wipe them and ban yer IP's. Quite possibly DOS ya too. If your using a personal firewall (linksys etc) you have problems with the off the wall port numbers, I use them for a reason though. And if anyone wants to see a pic of my little puppy check the newfolder folder pic of one whgen they were young there (so damn cute). Ummmmm other than that I would love to get some test runs here so lemme know. blkrnbw@bb.mpowermail.com

Ph yeah I will back up every Friday but in no way shape or form promise to have a copy of any pic you upload. I am not a pay site so dont feel any responcibility at all. No Im not a dick just dont like to worry about it.

Oh yeah
Please keep this down to bikeland stuff. If it starts getting abused will have to throttle back BW and or kill it off completly. I dont mind some other stuff there but 180 megs of familiy photos being stored for everyone would be very wrong.

Well, after spending some time learning about the web space earthlink gives me to use, I figured out how to post pics there.
First off, I guess they cant be too big or they wont show up on the screen. So I cut the resolution down bigtime.
They seem to work now.
This whole picture posting thing is new to me. I must sound like an idiot to some of you guys.
The learning curve is steep at first. But my monitor will live to see another day. I get so damn mad when things dont work the way it seems they should.
Heres a link to a few pics that I droped the resolution on.

ok
Through Internet explorer you should be able to open the FTP and just drag and drop files into the ftp window to upload them. I would suggest making a folder for your own stuff to keep it seperate.

Thanks for the test, enjoy. I am sure freek can get instructions for everyone else. I am going to start a dog thread soon to show off my puppies (they are 130 lbs each now).

Thanks Harry, it's starting to grow on me too.
zx1012r,
Do you have an FTP client ? That would be the easiest way to do it. Set it to 208.57.109.158 and port 9000 and make sure it's in passive mode.
Too complicated ? Well download and install this program, it's a free FTP client. (answer the install questions that you are a student and use it for school) Click this to download http://agentware.tucows.com/files/ws_ftple_tuc.exe
After that's done grab this ini file, it's preconfigured for your pleasure http://www.blackrainbow.com/daveindaytona/ws_ftp.ini and replace the ini file on your system in this directory C:\Program Files\WS_FTP
Fire up the program and it should default on a profile called blackrainbow, click ok.
Make a new folder on the right side, open it, and drag and drop the files from your directories on the left side.
If you can't figure that out then back away from the computer and find a small child to help you.
Good luck.
