How my bike handles now after GMD mods

As most of you are aware I decieded to take my 12 for a little offroad excursion and in the process changed some of the geometry of my bike.I took it to GMD Computrack in atlanta to have them straighten the rear subframe and swingarm and to check everything out to make sure it is right. They also set up my geometry to their sweet #'s. I also have a Penske rear shock with a spring to match my weight and the front forks revalved and springs to match my weight.I have ridden it about 400 miles and went around some curves although not curves like the Gap or the area around TWO has. They told me my bike would handle like it weighed 100 lbs less and they were right it goes around corners much better. The suspension if stiff to say the least and absorbs all the bumps much more efficiently , however I feel every thing much more (bumps etc) The main draw back for me is the height. I am only 5' 8" and now have to tippy toe to reach the ground. It tracks absolutely straight as I have taked my hands completely off the bars at both low and higher speeds.I can't wait to go back and camp at TWO and try it out there.

Harry,
That is my winter project. Work on the full suspension tune up. Which Penske did you get? E-mail me.

Harry, can you share some numbers from your printouts with us!!!

How close was the rake and trail when it went on the machine?

How far to the right side was the swingarm?

How close was the swingarm pivot purpendicular to the steering head.

If you could scan and post the sheets it would be great!

Thanks

They didn't give me any printouts. They did say the steering head was slightly out but that they had seen brand new ones out more. He warned me about cornering the first time I rode it and he was right it turns like a totally different bike MUCH quicker. The bike does feel lighter but it is very tall.I will call them this week and ask them about a printout. My alignment of the swingarm was way off (Chain) and they do not remark the swingarm. They were good at explaining the differences and I sat on the bike and opereated the front forks and they adjusted the different dampening settings and I worked the forks to try them.I can actually hear the fluid in the front forks when I apply the brakes hard as I'm riding down the road. They also put an "O" ring on one of my fork tubes so I can see how far my forks are compressing.

damn, I'd love to get my bike to track settings but unless I could lose 100lbs of unsprung weight I don't think I'll spend the dough, though I'd love to....

The bottom line...

How much would this set the average Joe back? Thousands? Hundreds?

Stock can be modified to work just as well.

You can get your standard suspension units modified to work just fine for hard road riding and even track work but if you are an extremely talented rider of say Mat Mladins caliber maybe some Ohlins,Race tech,Penske,White power etc etc is probably called for

I don't believe the stock units can be made to work as well snowmaster. I am not mat maladin or a rider of that caliber. I wanted my bike to handle better which it does. What bike do you ride anyway ? Do you have a 12 if you do how about posting a picture for us?

Redelk it was EXPENSIVE!!!

harryzx-12, Sounds like you have got your bike set up right. I live in Atlanta. How much does it cost to have them set up the geometry of your bike? Do you have their phone #? I'm still running the stock suspension. I want to have the rear shock revalved and resprung, But I want to have the Geometry set up first.
