Need Help with Palm Pilot
I received the Palm 3c yesterday. Downloaded and installed the Palm desktop software.(the sleeve for the cd was empty).
I downloaded and installed the latest PowerCommander software.
Here is what is happening. When I try to send a map file from the desktop to the palm, in its cradle, I get an error notice saying it can't be located, etc.
I have loaded the mapfile folder (whatever it is called) to the palm, and it shows the icon on the home page. (using the cradle) Press the icon and it brings up a nearly empty page with a button that says listen to com. I have tried clicking that button then sending the file. not clicking the button before sending the file.
I have closed the hotsync application.
I have closed all applications running with the ctrl/alt/del except the power commander, explorer and systray.
I sent the map file folder(whatever it is called) to the Palm from the desktop, no problem.
I cant seem to get a map to transfer for the life of me!
Where am I going wrong? Ozzy.

Ozzy,
Make sure that you've closed the hot synch in the lower task bar. Go to the little blue and red circular arrow hot synch icon, open that and make sure that "local serial" is NOT checked. It won't work if you just use the "setup" utility in the hot synch utility at the top of the desktop menue. Also when at the hot synch menu icon click on exit then another window will come up and click OK. This will disable the hot synch. You have to turn it back in in the hot synch manager also.

Hmmmm
Ozzy,
It sounds as if you're doing it right. I've got a Palm M105 and it works great, a very cool thing to have. It's nice to have the capabilities to change maps on the go. I hope you get your problems ironed out. You do need to be absolutely sure that the Hot Sync Manager is shut down though.

I heard the latest version of software was causing some problems with the Palm. They loaded the version prior to the last version and it worked fine.
