Need Help with clutch rod that goes into case

A friend of mine was having a problem with the clutch linkage rod that goes in the case. The fork kept slipping off the rod thats in the hub. He put stiffer springs in it and cant get the fork to stop slipping off. Anybody else have this problem. Any solutions or easy fixes.

Yep, change the puller rod, and make sure that you have the washer under the spring...

You may also have the stack too low and the shaft that is in the clutch stack may sit back too far and the arm is onoy gripping the end and rounding it off

Yea the washer was under the spring. Hes pretty hard on the clutch. Hes gone through 3sets in less than 12 months.. Mind you this is on the street not the strip. Hes also blown the basket. I told him he may need to buy the muzzy hub and clutch kit. They say it improves the clutch imperfections. Is their any specific way to install clutch catch fork .

Well the new stack steels and fibers was slightly taller than the old once. Their were only a few fibers that were in bad shape. The clutch pack comes to the end of the basket.

Billet Basket is a Must, but remember the Billet Basket is designed to crack not break!!!

Tell your brother to stop snapping the clutch out to do rolling holeshots also shift without the clutch while racing - that alone will save the basket, clutch puller rod and shaft...

The clutch stack height is extremely important to the longevity of the puller and shaft. I think the range is between 56.8 and 57.6 since wear is a problem start as close as possible to the 57.6 MM Height even a few tents of a MM Taller is better than a few shorter!

This is not something to "Look" at or use a ruler. You need a Vernier Caliper that can be bought for about $20 and Harbor Freight Tools and that is a lot cheaper than any of the parts you are ruining!

I'd like to see a pic of someone measuring the stack height WITH the Muzzy Basket. I can't figure out how??? (hidden in basket)

I can't get mine to stop dragging; 5 changes of different size steels don't fix it. I've been struggling w/this for years now. Shifts fine without the clutch; with it, shifting is hard (physically) to do (takes too much effort @ foot), drags all the time (creeps thru the staging lights= red light), and has never worked as well as the stocker did. Now I can't go back...

I ruined one of those when I first put the Muzzy clutch pack in my 12 by not adjusting it correctly due to the smaller stack height....

I measure it on the Hub Before I install it or off a sheel of Glass or machined flat plate and one time on top of the washing Machine Lid I know that this is not compressed, and warpage will apply so measure from the Hub surface to the edge of the basket and scribe in that measurement on the outside of the Basket so you will always be able to find it for a reference and measure from there. (I wonder how I came up with the idea to mark the measurement on the outside of the basket?
