How Can U Tell If ?
Forks are bent,, is there a way to tell by eye balling it,, is there some trick that a backyard mechanic has devised,, this is the second fall on my bike,,both around 40 mph,, just curious if im gonna need forks..

Did you say backyard butcher?
1. Loosen the front axle's nut until it's just away from the fork. But first... spin the wheel so you can watch for a ding at edge of the rim, or the whole wheel has a nice bend altogether?
2. Back to the axle... spin the head of the axle, then watch the whole fork assembly(s) to start walking all over the place? Watch for the forks to move toward the nut, or away from the wheel spacers? If the axle spins free, and the forks don't move, you're still not home free.
3. You have both forks still in the upper and lower crowns. Everything else is off and away from the fork assemblies. You want to spin the lower forks now. Comutrak (the high-tech part) a coat hanger and just place one end stationary, and set the other end of the coat hanger just touching the fork tube. Set the coat hanger pointer lower where if you score metal, it's away from the seal's travel. If the fork touches (spin it 360 degrees) the coat hanger, send it off to be straightened. But then; who would want to ride with a nice "S" bend in the fork tube? I'd put the shipping money, the initial bill to have it (both?) straightened, and throw that ($$) toward buying OEM new, including seals, and I'm back to full (smooth) travel without any bend my to my forks at all?
4. Loosen the upper and lower pinch bolts to one side of the crowns (triple tree). Spin the fork in the trees.. Did it slide out without any effort too? If you pushed both upper and lower crowns away from center, and then lined up one fork back in place, and then slid in the other... did they go in with ease? If you had to push onto the upper part of the crown to insert the second fork, then the tree is bent along with the upper crown. Check for flatness (of the upper crown) at the pinchers? They should be flat along with the body of the crown. Any bends to the upper or lower crowns, and it's off to a Kawi parts counter, or to Comutrak( for another "S" bend that looks straight?).
5. Frame. If it's built anything like the 14, I believe it gave the energy right back to the forks, crowns, and wheel. Don't bother sending it out... (almost kidding).

Rnadall hit this hole under braking at 190+ which bottomed out the bike and threw it up in the air to the left. He knew to let off the brakes and when it landed he took another 1/2 mile to stop.

I said all of this to say that the forks were not bent! SO if you think you did more than this then maybe you did bend them!!
