Took the 12R to its first track day at PIR, Oregon, yesterday along with my R1. I ran the 12 in the "B" group and the R1 in the faster "A" group. The 12 acquitted itself very well in the B group where several guys on R1's, 929's etc being suprised at the speed of the mother ship through the turns and then only to see it vanish down the front staight. I have some friends that race GSXR 1000's and in race trim they could only just about hang. I saw an indicated 185mph, the Garmin GPS in the trunk claimed max speed of 169mph, however I was only just getting toward the top of 5th (still pulling like a train however!!) before sitting up to brake. My biggest gripe is the on/off throttle issue particularly at higher rpm. This made it more difficult to roll into the throttle picking it up out of the turns. Good fun.

depends on the map alot. i know fish was ecstatic after he got his map dialed in. claims almost no on-off abruptness. if i remember correctly, it required some pretty rich numbers down low. don't remember who he got the base map from. cliff randall i think.

ah.. not really freek.... the PC3 solved some probs... but as I said in my earlier post re" PIR ... I had some backfiring, which upon entery into turn 8 (I think) almost launched me off the bike everytime....
fuel injection does leave something to be desired on this bike IMHO

Indeed, Swift. I encountered the same abruptness problems not long ago at a trackday. The low throttle postition enrichments made very little difference on mine. Made corner exits very exciting for a newby wannabe. I can,t imagine sitting up at the end of a 170mph straight! That's hauling butt!
Needs a life
Full throttle!

I know exactly what you mean by throttle abruptness. Coming out of turn 4 at Seattle, I lofted the front in 2nd, rolled off and upshifted to third, rolled back on and *never* touched the tarmac with the front tire. Turn 5 came up very quickly, With the rear sprocket down at a 43t, the bike was hitting about 190 before tipping it into turn 1.
