MORE GAP NEWS!
Thanks to all the efforts from Old Kawboy, here's the scoop on some of the "activites" (from an e-mail he sent me)...
Charlie at Alcoa Good Times said that he would provide breakfast (coffee, juice, pastries, fruit, etc.) on Friday and Saturday morning and we could use AGT as a meeting place. He said 8:30/9:00am would be fine.
I called Chris and he said that he would bring the dyno (a portable DJ250 w/sniffer) on Saturday, don't have a time yet as he is meeting with Charlie soon to work everything out.
Sadly, it appears that Mark and Mellisa will not be able to be as involved as they were in the past. This translates into the possibility that we'll be kind of on our own. At this time. There has not be any "suggested routes" or maps made. Old Kawboy said he'd try to help on some maps and I believe I still a copy of the map used for DG1 and DG2.
For many different reasons, this event is going to be more of a "casual and less structured" event. How much "less structured" is solely up to us. We won't have any local group leaders as in the previous events, but I do believe that there will be enough "event veterans" that we can keep the newbies from getting in over their heads. As you "veterans" know, it can easily happen.
I'm looking to Ninjaman (yeah, that you, Rick!) in helping to suggest some possible routes. I've been there twice and spent 9 days there, both time. I still have come nowhere close to see or riding on a fraction of the great roads in the area. Cherohala Parkway is still my all time favorite and I personally believe that after riding the Dragon's Tail, Cherohala is a "must ride". Still, that's my opinion and with this group, the "majority" will always rule.
I will be more then happy to make some DG3 decals, but since there won't be any kind of "registration", it's gonna be kinda tough to do name tags. Not impossible, but I'll need some help in know who is planning on coming and I can print them out. I'll see if I can find some holders for them. I'll be leaving Little Rock on 5/11 and be staying in Alcoa till 5/19 (if I'll ever get off my butt and make my room reservations!).
Here's the point to all this, I'm more then happy to help in any way, but we really don't have anyone that is "in charge". To make the best of this weekend, we'll need all the help and suggestions from as many of the "veterans" as possible. I know it's kinda late in the game, but we all need to put our "thinkin' helmets" on and try to get a handle on this.
Just my opinion.

I know a couple local riders that would be happy to show some different routes if you're interested. I went with them the last time I was there and was taken places I would have never found on my own. I plan to meet them on at least one of the days I'm there.
Whatever else you need to help count me in.

Map Suggestion!!
I think everyone comming should go to the Tail of the Dragon web-site and print out their own maps. That would save a big job for any one person.
Here is one that seems to be a very good one.

Hey Red & BFLY, wife and I will trailer the bikes down and be there by the 13 also. Let us know if/when you guys want to do some scouting runs.

Hey Folks,
I found a map and can make all the copies that are needed. Still haven't found out about the dyno location yet, but he is coming. It would be a GREAT time to make a few pulls or get a good map, Chris is an excellent dyno operator and we need to make it worth his time if we can.
Look forward to seeing everyone.

DAMN! This trip will COST ME!
2 Metzeler Rennsport tires (what better time to try out a new brand?)
DID ZVM chain
AFAM 47T sprocket
150 gallons of gas for the truck and bike (1200 miles each for the truck and bike, minimum)
8 nights at the Holiday Inn Select
10 days of food and drinks
Hmmmm... spend 3~5 days with Kathy Lee on some cruise ship or hang out with you guys? Tough choice. Oh what the fuck... Kathy Lee don't swallow anyway (and I DON'T want to know if ya'll do)! I hope you MF'ers ain't planning a September get together too! I can afford it!
In other words, I just made my hotel reservations. REMEMBER... There's a "special rate" of $67 ($3 off their lowest internet rate) for the "Kawasaki group". Be sure and call 1-865-981-9008 and confirm your rate. That's BEFORE you leave! Maps and driving directions to the hotel can be found at their website.

Yep, too much work for them for sure.
The map that is posted above is all anyone needs to see. That is some of the sweetest riding you'll ever do right there. The Foothills Pkwy.,Deals Gap, and then on to the Cherohala to do the loop back to Alcoa. Fuck, what more could a guy ask for.

Rick, Otis and Harry !
I thought you might like that map. The color of the roads indicates the amount of Radar Enforcement.
Looks like you picked a nice spot to get a cabin, looks handy for everything. Is the cost of the girl included in the rent or is that one of those that just includes a very large dress with it?
I am looking forward to seeing you all again. Rick don't punch Harry until after I have met him. I didn't make the first one and he didn't make the second.
Sadly I will miss Ken and Angie again. How about Wildman and Wrenis, I thought I heard they were comming.
I am looking forward to seeing Dave and Barts new bikes. I hope they look just as good going home as the do when they arrive...

Bring it on.....
Both you cocksmokers will get beat down if you try any bullshit. Daddy ain't havin' it. Don't spend your vacation time mending from an ass WHOOPIN', it just wouldn't be right, also remember I'll have my Big Gorilla with me. I can assure you he's on my side, or atleast he better be.
Harry remember I've already elected you as the "Cabin Bitch" anyways, so shut the fuck up and get ready to run a mop and broom, and bring plenty of shit to detail my bike after every ride. Otis, since you keyed in with that bullshit you can make sure you buy all my gas at every gas stop, and the steaks are on you as well. Keep talking shit and you'll be buying me some tires for AFTER the trip.
