quote: Honda currently trails Suzuki in all aspects of performance in the literbike category. Even their 2007 model, which was new in 2006, is inferior to the previous-generation 2005 Suzuki.
LMFAO
Ok brutha' the redesigned litre bike is coming in '08. Stay tuned. The same thing will happen in the litre bike category as HONDA has accomplished in the 600RR class.
And in total sales performance of the two corporations, WHO is Suzuki anyway?

So in '08, Honda will be trailing Kawasaki by two positions in AMA Superstock with two races left in the season? That would be impressive, considering there isn't a Honda on the radar now.
Look, I'd really like to see Honda make a literbike that's capable of class-leading performance. I've owned two 900RR's, a 929, an RC51, two F3's and a bunch of XR's, so it's not like I don't like Hondas. But in racing, performance is everything, and racing Hondas in Superstock doesn't make a whole lot of sense at the moment.
In total sales vs. total race wins in AMA Pro Racing, who is Honda anyway?

tcchin, regarding performance bike for bike, do you think Honda will have the leading litre bike in '08 compared to their competitors?
keep in mind what they did with the 600RR in '07.
also we'll revisit this thread after the truth be known in the future :P

I hope Honda does do something good with this bike, and I don't mean weirdo technology that sounds good on a brochure (like a frame without a swingarm pivot or super-flexy frames), but something that actually makes the bike perform better at the edges of its performance envelope. From everything I've seen so far, it looks like the '08 will be small, so it may be light. We'll have to see about the power.
I'm not all that impressed by the '07 600RR. I think it's an evolutionary change, whereas the 1000RR needs a revolutionary change to make it competitive. I don't think Honda is letting one Large Project Leader run both the 600 and 1000 programs, so I'm not sure how many similarities there will be between the two platforms.
But for God's sake, I hope they make this bike easy to service (pivoting fuel tank with quick-release fuel hose fittings, captive sprocket carrier and cush drive rubbers, no front wheel spacers, seven fasteners or less to remove the throttle bodies, a wiring harness that looks like a harness instead of a friggen net, a separate, quick-release sub-harness for any airbox-mounted injectors, a shock that can be removed without taking the back of the bike apart, two-piece cam towers to simplify valve adjustments, etc., etc.). If I can get all of that and class-leading power and/or handling, along with decent aftermarket support, then I will definitely consider racing a Honda in Superbike next year. If only Honda would offer contingency money too...
