Sorry to Inform You....
I traded my Zx-12 off for a Yamaha FZ-1. The bike just didn't work out for me. I quess I am too short for comfort on the bike. I wish I had longer arms and was 6'2" tall. There was nothing I didn't like about the bike, but I didn't fit it.
The FZ-1 fits me to a T, I really like it. Sorry fella's I really tried.

Too Short for the ZX12R????
If your too short then I must be a midget!!!!
Put the lowering Dogbones on it, then just lay on tank and punch it!!!! Bike gets real comfortable at 150+!! LOL
Good luck with the new bike!!!!

If I spent time at the dragstrip like you do, I would have kept the 12. I loved the motor. But the way they run the tracks down here suck. All bikes run in the same class. Street bikes and the fastest drag bike ever built will run against each other. Everyone runs off of a dial-in time.
My neck and lower back would not let me enjoy the riding position of any of these bikes except for a short ride. That includes the R-1 someone suggested I should have bought. I rode the FZR-1000 for six years before I bought the ZX-12. So eight years of that riding position, I know how it affects me. I also had Heli bars on both bikes.
The FZ-1 will go 150 mph, it just won't do it in the quarter like yours does.

Thanks Harry, It already has, I haven't felt this good riding a bike for years.
The bike has a very light and nimble feel to it. Running the back roads is a blast on it. It handles much better for me than the 12. I guess I have never been the roadracer type anyway. I come from the old dirtbike school.
I can't wait for Deals Gap this year. The pain is gone.

I'm not too comfy either.
I'm 5'8" also and can't touch the ground flatfooted on both sides. I also don't find the 12 very comfortable. It's just that I have a really small pe... uh, I mean, I like having the fastest bike in town.

Yea ,I'm like 12Rpilot
5'8" , not the other way! When my bike is set up to go around corners it's hang off the side and tippytoe to reach the ground!

A friend of mine traded his FZ for a 12R
Still to this very day, I not so sure as to why. Especially since he was the same guy who rode my 12R 10+ miles with a flat rear tire (to see if he really wanted to trade in his FZ).
The two times I rode his FZ, I found it to be amazingly nimble and even though it's weight is comparable to a 12R, it also felt fairly light. The seating position is something I'd have to get used to. I felt that I was more "upright" then the 12R and to me, that's a weird feeling. I guess that's why I also felt the seat was higher then my 12R. Who knows? It might have also been the fact that I have a Corbin seat, but I think it spreads my legs out further then the OEM seat did.
Anyway, I thought the FZ was a real fun bike and I'd have a blast riding it for a 500 mile ride. That is, after I got used to the seating position and those handle bars. I would miss the 12R's brute power, but I wouldn't miss the numerous times I've found myself way over my head because of it.
With a few minor modifications, I could see the FZ being a serious back roads bike. Especially after revalving or swapping those forks for some off an R1. It will be a tad more difficult to remove some of it's weight (compared to a sportbike), but I'm sure it could be done. If you were to trim off 30~40 lbs (a pipe would put you halfway) and tweak the suspension, it would be a REAL blast!

Redelk, The bike doesn't need to lose 30 to 40 lbs as much as I do. You don't really change pipes on the Yamaha, just the can. That will save you about 7 lbs. Yamaha used that EXUP collector the four pipes run into under the bike, you can change whatever comes out the other side to what you want. V&H makes a carbon fiber slip-on for 400 bucks that will increase your bike by 4 hp and save 7 lbs.
Last fall at Deals Gap I only rode with my brother, we didn't want to hold up the go fast ZX-12 guys. Jack had never been there before and I didn't know how well he could keep up with the group. I also knew I would have to stop several times to get the kinks out.
This year I want to do some riding with Redelk and I am sure I can get through the Gap quicker on the FZ-1 then the ZX-12. My brother had no trouble keeping up with me last year, for the first time ever. I must be getting slow.

I like the way this guy thinks!
In all seriousness, I traded a 12 for a ZX-9R and a pile of money. The 9 is a little more comfortable for me around town. The 12 was pretty hard on my wrists. I do miss the low-end horsepower, but after the 9 revs a little, it's still pretty exciting. Hard to say what I'll end up with next.

Didn't anyone consider the ZRX1200 ??? A better looking bike, with more grunt down low, not to mention cheaper than the FZ...

I did! I had a ZRX-1100 that I traded in on the 12. You are right, that thing was a real hoot to ride! I may end up with a ZRX-1200 yet, now that I have successfully gotten over my desire for an Uglybusa.

I looked at the ZRX-1100 before, it didn't do it for me. They didn't come out with the 1200 until they heard Yamaha was comming with the FZ-1.
When I decided to trade, the ZRX-1200 would have been my second choice. I had no third choice, it was between those two.
I didn't think the ZRX-1200 was the better looking bike, it looked cheaper. Suspension is better on the FZ-1, great breaks, better handling, more top end and quicker 1/4 mile with more speed in the 1/4.
I will agree with more grunt down low and cheaper. But I also own a 1986 V-Max that had been paid for years ago, so that takes care of the grunt down low and the cheaper.
