Speculation about all the other ECUs
The other ECU thread was getting off topic and a lot of people are asking about the other ECUs So I thought I would start a new thread to keep the first one a little more on topic.
Apparently the word on the street is the old ZX-12r ECU was a 16 bit and the newer ones are 32 bit. I posted a comparison of ECU part numbers on the other thread
year 12r ecu
2000 21175-1069
2001 21175-1079
2002 21175-1089
2003 21175-1089
2004 21175-0038
2005 21175-0038
2003 6r 21175-0001
10r 21175-0029
All ECUs for all bikes are 21175-
The first injected 6r is -0001 All the ECUs for ALL the bikes are now -00xx As an engineer it sure looks to me like they came out with a new model ECU right around the time the ZX-12 got the 32 bit. Also as an engineer if I were designing a new ECU for the 6r and I knew I had the 10r, 12r and new 14r in the pipeline I would design one ECU for all with different software. I would not pay Denso to develope me 4 seperate new designs.
I would bet they are all the same inside. Also why have four seperate ways to program them? I bet if you crack one you crack them all.
NEXT ITEM
How different are the 6r 10r kit ECUs from the stock ones? Are they similar enough inside that you could grab the code out of one kit ecu and flash it into a stock ecu and make it into a kit ecu?
WILD SPECULATION
IF the 6r 10r 12r 14r are really all the same ECU
AND IF you can use Kit ECU code to turn a stock ecu into a kit ECU
COULD you create a hybrid KIT 14r or 12r ECU that would use the nice friendly Kawi PC software?
Homework Assignment:
Someone with access to a dealership or all of you with newer manuals together need to get the pinouts and terminal assignments for all the 2006 6r,10r,12r, and 14r ECUs
Also the pinout terminal assignments for the 6r, 10r KIT ECU or A pinout of the kit wire harness.
pin 1 of bike side goes to pin 3 of kit ecu etc. etc.
Plus list any extra wires and where they go.
If they all have a standardized pinout for the injectors, coils, TPS, etc and few unique wires for each model than it would be worth pursuing.

Ah All of them
2005 6r
2005 10r
2005 12r
2006 14r (when they become available)
I would hate to see you spend all that money so I can look at two pages in each manual. Surely we can find one guy with a 6r, another with a 10r and another with a 12r who have manuals to copy the pages for us.

The 2000 thru 2003 are going to be the same bit size I would think. The 04 and newer may be 32 bit.
The 04 and newer have dual butterflies in the throttle bodies and also the ignition rotor has more tits on it. If that makes any since!!!

Ridge - To give you an idea of my level of expertise, I'm proud that I can make the clock stop blinking on the new DVD player...
But I think you may be on to something because I was wondering how (I think it was Schnitz??) could get a 10r PCIII to work with the new 14. Apparently, they're close enough from the git go.
Keep up the good work and have the white paper on my desk by Monday morning.

so basically will a 21175-1089 work where a 21175-1079 came out of?

The 1089 according to ronayers fits 02+ models. The 1079 doesn't come up fitting anything...might be the 1089 is a newer (supercession) one?

Ridgercer,
If you need the ZX-12R service manual, Garth285 has posted them here for download. Just see his thread "ZX12 Service Manuals" at the bottom of page 1.
