boots

I just got a pair of SIDI Verterbre II Tepors ($280)...they sometimes squeek when I walk in them...what have you (those who wear the Verterbres) done to eliminate or reduce the squeeking of the verterbres?...(this is my third SIDI product...road cycling shoes ($100), OnRoad Sympatex boots ($245), and Verterbre II...all pricey, but good, long lasting stuff...I hear there's a Verterbre II Air Carbon ($280)(ventilated!!!) version coming out this month)

...also...for those of you who have large feet/calves, I tried on a pair of OXSTAR TC-2(?)..very comfortable, reasonble hard protection, and they go up to a 49 (which is like a 13 1/2 US)...reasonble, too ~$200...Chaparral has them...

I had a pair of Alpinestars SMX-Plus boots ($235 from the great folks at New Enouigh Leathers), but I sent them back...very good looking, very comfortable, very secure, lots of hard protection, but too 'massive' especially in the big sizes...it didn't feel readily 'flexible' (like the SIDIs) at the toes on the controls...more like a motocross boot in stiffness (which I guess would soften up after LOTS of use)

...I posted the prices not to show how much money I spent (which I don't have lots of...I'm a civil servant, damn it! ) but because most people end up asking how much the stuff costs anyway ...hey anything to help out

Re: Squeek

I have the vertabraes too. The squeek comes from the individual vertabrae parts moving on each other on the back.

I just sprayed mine with a bit of WD40, worked them back and forth a bit, then wiped off the excess. It's not a permanent fix but then just do it again. -ZXtra

Hell I just thought it was my old bones creaking. Guess I better try mine on again and walk around some.

i use some cheap styl martins, only $149CDN if i remember correctly. comfortable enough, but hardly offer the same protection as the vertebrates, and unfortuantely are not holding up that well. in particular, the surface of the leather has already worn off of all the angle points. but for the price, guess i'm happy.
