Counter balancer

Hi guys while i am building my 1375 and waiting for my ss valves to come frm APE i read some where dat rod muzzy advises not to street ride the bike after the counter balancer is removed, not good for the motor. isn't the crank for the 1375 balanced ? if so will it still be safe to run without the counter balancer pls advise thanks

The primairy balance on an inline 4 crankshaft is neutral. Meaning, bob weights arnt needed to balance the crankshaft. The rods all need to weigh the same as well as the pistons etc. When it runs it will have perfect primairy balance.
However, secondary vibrations come into play. The slight relitive acceleration and deceleration of the crankshaft when the cylinders fire causes secondary harmonics in the crankshaft that can, over time increase the wear on the main bearings and can fatigue the crankshaft. On a welded crank this becomes even more important. If you took 100 welded cranks and xrayed them you would see a percentage of them have compromises under the skin. After some number of cycles these cranks will fail in time. Even a billet crank is subject to the same stresses and can fail. This is why a top fuel, or nextel cup, or F1 crankshaft will be used for x number of runs or time and will be discarded even if it still measures 100% on the money.
The counter balancer spins at twice crankshaft speed to smooth out these surges in crank speed to reduce secondairy harmonics in the crankshaft.
So on these welded cranks I would agree.

I would leave it in, and tweak a bit more power somewhere else to make up for any gains by removing it. Too much time and $$$ for me to risk a KABOOOOM!!
This coming from a guy who never even dove into a motor like that, of course....

Entropy, ya best be getting rid of that stroker crank cause its got way
too many cycles on it. It might let go at any time! I'll take it off ya nice and
cheap though so ya don't have to risk it anymore.

My 1361 was smoother than stock @ low RPMs, especially around 4000.

Yea i'd have to say the 1375 is very smooth. Less vibration in some areas, but a little more in the feet at certain areas. I havent really payed that much attention to it to say what rpm I feal it in the feet.
