First Ride with "New" Forks...........

Took the 12 out yesterday for a good flog. It's the first ride I've taken since I put my forks back on last friday night.

I had them (forks) reworked by G.M.D. Computrack in Atlanta. At first they didn't want to do a "mail order" job, but after talking with the guy (Kent) for awhile, and telling him how much Harry has bragged about their work, he decided he'd do it for me. They polished the tubes, put all new seals and wipers in, installed circuit one pistons, 1.0 springs (heavier) and did a custom revalve.

All I can say is WOW, man what a difference. This is the way the bike should've came from the factory. For me anyway. In the twisties, and under hard braking they really showed their stuff. Wheelie touchdowns have never been so smooth on the 12 either. I'd say the biggest benefit though would be the handling. The bike seems to have more feedback from the frontend, turns in easier, and midcorner line changes are easier.

When I sent the forks off I had them set with 2 rings showing on the preload, 2 clicks out from full compression dampening, and 2 clicks out from full on rebound dampening. I was using all they had to give and more as I had busted a seal on the right side fork. They sent them back with 5 rings showing on preload, 6 clicks out on compression, and 10 clicks out on rebound. I laughed saying "That shit will never work". I ran it down to 4 rings showing on preload and left the rest the same as they had it. Damned if I don't think I can back the preload off back to 5 rings and DECREASE compression dampening a click or two. I'm only thinking about doing this, it works so good I should leave well enough alone. Will I? I doubt it.

I hated to shell out the $$$$$ to do this, but after one ride I was wishing I'd done it long ago. Oh yeah..... those EBC HH pads are the shit, yesterday was my first ride with them on as well. They really heel the bike down nicely. Anyone here running HH pads on the rear????? I put them on mine and they aren't as grabby as I thought they would be, really didn't feel any better than the standard Kevlar EBCs I had on. Thoughts????

Rear brake is used so little, just sticking with stock pads.

Glad you're happy with them.

Wait till you ride my bike with the forks modded and a good shock on the back!
