Ever ride a Gold Wing? Went riding Saturday. Toward the end, a friend of mine and I switched bikes. I think we both were enlightened.

I have owned 3 Gold Wings, They are a great bike to do what they were designed for.

I was impressed... His bike was only an '85, but the protection from the elements was incredible. The only wind I felt, was from behind, like in a convertible.
After taking my 12 to redline in 2nd, all he could say was "what a rush".
He can see the need for something sporty again, and I definitely need something my wife and I can tour on.

I hae had a '77(1000), an '81(1100), and a '87(1200). My favorite- the '77. It was a lot lighter than the newer ones, but then again it was a naked bike as built. It did have a windjammer fairing,no lowers, Vetter saddlebags, and a Calafia tour pack. The '81 had the worlds worst seat, I got rid of the bike because of the seat. The '87 was a nice bike, all the comforts, but it was a lot heavier than the '81. If I was looking for another Gold Wing, I would look for an '88 and up 6 cylinder(1500) . They are an awesome tour bike to haul the little woman around on.

Rode a friend's '02. Wow! Once past a walking pace, the bike sheds 300 lbs. Very nimble for it's size, awesome motor is like a electric generator, so smooth and torque. ____________

Does a top of the line BMW count. If I had more money than brains or I live down south. I'd have one. Stereo, nice power, good handling and REVERSE.

oh man! i would love a goldwing to tote the ol' lady around on.
i used to have an 85 yamaha venture royale (poor mans goldwing) and loved it for quite a few years until i ran out of room in the garage.
i saw a post on ebay 6 months ago for a 1999 goldwing with 100,000 miles on it. someone deserves an ironbutt award!
not that it takes an iron butt to sit on those cushy seats but man, thats alot of mileage for two years! he must have went everywhere!
