shimming the clutch

Does anybody know what shimming the clutch mean? Is it possible to "shim" the clutch and add horsepower.. I think I found the term from Rickey Gadson regarding the zx14.

thanks,

probably means putting shims behind the springs for adding spring pressure.

most people buy heavier duty springs.

i thought what rickey was refering to was the act of making the play in the clutch correct by using the right combination of plates as there are i think 3 different plate sizes,,i think??

wylde, that would be building a clutch pack to the proper stack height.
Shimming is using washer to increase the spring pressure on the clutch pack.
