Help adjusting clutch
after putting the motor back in the bike, today was the first chance I've had to ride. My clutch feels like it's catching in a different place. Feels like it's catching later...with the lever almost all the way out. Before, it cought almost as soon as I started to let it out.
I think the problem is with the "adjuster" at the clutch housing itself. Question is anyone know off had which way to move the adjuster. I'm talking about the end of the cable with the two nuts next to the housing. I'm sure if I move that one way or another it will adjust the "catching" point.
If no one knows...I'll just play with it (keep your minds out of the gutter)

Do you have any free play at the lever? Probibly not. Adjust it so you have a little slop and see if thats better

hey guys, I've got the proper free play at the lever. Forgot to put that in my post. Sorry. I took a close look at the threads on the lower adjusting point and it looks like I'm about 1/8 to 1/4 down from where I was before. I'll make that correction when I get home. I'm pretty sure that's where the problem lies.

If you have free play at the top it shouldn't matter where the bottom adjustment is at. :scratching head:???

sorry guys, I just re-read my post. Does make me sound like an idiot. Guess that's what happens when you are at work and trying to fit a simple post in the middle of a busy day.
I had the top adjuster where I wanted it. about 2 threads showing. I just had to move the bottom nuts up a bit to give the the slack I wanted. Yea I could have just adjusted it at the top, and it would probably been easier, but this way I shouldn't have to touch the bottom adjusters for a long time. As needed, I can simply move the top lever adjuster.
Reason for going through this pain in the ass is I've not had to adjust the free play in the cable in almost 12,000 miles. I knew exactly where the top lever adjuster was and I wanted to keep it there. Just helps me gage wear.
Thanks for the input.
