Might just not be updated on the site. Just give Muzzy a call and
talk to one of the tech guys. I did not think things changed for
04-05, but I have an old unrestricted Y2K model. By any chance
might your friend be headed to the Texas Mile for a little flyer fun?

how exactly will extending the rev limit bypass the 186mph restriction?

It won't.
To my knowledge, Muzzys does not have a "Bonneville box" de-restrictor for the 04/95 bikes.

That sucks, surely one of the big guns must know. I wonder if it is a
speed sensor, or gear/rpm modulated limiter. JohnnyCheese might
know as he has a lot of experience with 12's and actually fabricated
a better anti-limiting mod for the Busa.

Doug

any plans to make one ?
and how is the 04-05 12 restricted, is it from the speed sensor, or is it a 6th gear rpm limit.
Reason I ask is my 04 is geared down, and the speedo is close to 185 in the 1/4. actuall mph is 146. Am I gonna hit the restrictor if it sees 186 ?

Your problem is like a 100 bucks to fix.... Buy a yellow box....

Then set the speedo correct with GPS... Then no matter what gearing your running you can always set it correct.... Then bike won't reach 186 in 1/4 mile.... I have a 17/51gearing and have it set +/- 1mph with yellow box....

Got this email back from Superbike Mike... Therefore the extended ecu will give you more rpms but still peter out at 186mph... Thats how I take this..

Subject: Re: RK

If you need to remove the sped restriction, you have to put in a resistor to fool the ECU into thinking the motor is in 5th gear. I don't do that here, but any knowledgeable electronics guy could do it.

The modified ECU will give about 1000 more RPM for $700.

It not that easy. each gear has a voltage value when in gear and when not in gear.
5 volts not in gear 0 volts when in gear.
so when your in 5th its recieving 0 volts when you shift to 6th, 5th becomes 5V and 6th becomes 0V.
So what i have to figure out is when I shift to 6th, 5th stays at 0V and 6th stays at 5V.
Resistors aint gonna do that.
this is gonna take some thinking.
you cannot just cut 6th and splice it to 5th, because when in 6th, its puttin out 0 volts but 5th will still be recieving the 5V so the 5V will cancel out the 0V signal from 6th.
Understand?
it would be easier if the V values were the other way around.
