Got me there. I wasn't thinking about dirt/enduro bikes...
Sand Cast Cases - I had a set of the original 750 Honda sand cast cases for a long time. Sold them to a guy many moons ago who lost a rod and blasted his cases all to heck.

Everybody talks about the old Honda sand case models........and I guess they are collectable. What alot of people don't know is exactally whats stated above. Junk!! Revised 3 times within the first year of production.

This is the only sand cast cases I have ever seen from Kawasaki. I do know it was an extremely limited production. Uh yeah the cyl and head were also sand cast and very cobby. The fins were 5/8 of an inch apart.

KBryant, I don't know that much about Hondas but that is some cool trivia.

I had a friend who bought one of Erv Kanemoto's KR750 H2Rs. I believe that had sand cast cases also.

nedragr - maybe... but in '69 the Honda's had a very high cool factor. It was "the" Superbike until both the H2 and Z1 came out. But a good running H1 with chambers would stomp the Honda. When we made the Honda's into road racers, everyone knew (just like on 2 stroke road racers) that you had to take everything apart anyway and clean, grind, weld, inspect, zyglo, magniflux, all the cases before you could put another 40 or 50 hp to them.

kbryant,
When you looked at the H2r engines tell me what was different about them from the production engines? Did you see the ones that they set up as flat trackers and brought to the San Jose mile? When I walked by them in the pits they were drawing a big croud. I think they had a Doug Sharma (Champion) frame.

Hopefully, overall, this is a good thing.

But just because someone is standing right next to you doesn't necessarily mean that they're trying to listen any more than if they were standing off at a distance...

True dat , need proof : get married .......

There is always someone listening no matter how trivial, and remember just because you dont get an answer or response doesnt mean that the wheels arent turning.

If I may say to you, the response would be the wheels turning, and the wheels turning would produce an answer, so, were that the system, I'd get both...

Apparently some wheels grind more slowly and more finely than even those of government.

I was never really brand loyal, until I bought my 12 back in 2000. It has been such a source of enjoyment for me since. I ride the heck out of it, and it never missed a step. Can't say enough good things about it.
Think I'll cut myself, to see what color comes out...
