They

choose the vette because it was "only" $50,000. They choose the gxsr because it was the fastest production track bike. If they choose a gp500 bike and a $300,000 car, the bike would still have cost more LOL.
All things considered, it wasn't a bad comparison.

As for a rags, Cycle Canada is starting to come to the top IMHO. The quality of the print, pics and paper is superior to many mags. 20 years ago it sucked, print on the equivilant of TP. Now gloss paper that actually has some weight to it(more in fact than most). As for the reports, they are for the most part that I can see, relatively un-biased.

And for those south of the boarder, with our Canadian Tire money right now, you would get it for next to free LFOL

I really don't think you can compare a bike to a car! Its just stupid, as proven by the rag. Its like comparing Michael Jordan (young Mike) to Dan Marino (young Dan) They both are great as are the ZO6 and the 1K. But both completely different. The one constant they share is they are both desirable. I would think most sport bike riders like sport cars and vice versa. But car Vs bike just isn't a level playing field.

Actually...

quote:
Did anyone notice that they said that the ZO6 is the most powerfull production Vett ever made at 408 hp? What about the thousands of late production ZR-1's? And the L-88's in the 60's? They just seem to make shit up out of thin air.

I think they meant the best performing corvette ever made; it runs the quickest ET and highest trapspeed and obviously out corners any other vette made to date in production form. 12.4 @ 118 on street tires even the old school vettes didn't run those numbers in 100% production form.

Then in the next breath they say that the GSX-R 1000 is the quickest (or was it "fastest"?) motorcycle ever made. Gee I've never seen a stock one beat a Busa or a 12r in top speed. Nor have I seen a stock one beat the zx12r in the 1/4 mile. Not even trap speed.

Actually I have. Jason Miller rode a stock GSXR1000 with stock pipe to a 9.60 (nine six zero) @ 149 mph; only mod was lowered/strapped. I think I actually have it on video I will try to dig it up. That would make it the quickest bike produced (ET and trapspeed), but it says nothing for topspeed, only acceleration.

Last week on Friday at Rockingham, North Carolina, Ryan Schnitz ran a 9.59 on a STOCK ZX-6R. He is regularly in the nines.
Doug

Of course Doug's definition of stock in the case of Ryan's 600 is obviously not actually 100% production stock but rather that which AMA ProStar considers "stock" for the class rules. IOW the bike is tweaked.

In comparison the GSXR1000 I saw Jason Miller ride was a showroom stock bike; not tweaked to within ProStar rules.

Don't forget...RICKEY went a mid 9.50 on a STOCK (lowered) 02...12 at Gville...didn't go 149 though, I think it was 147...
NOT bad for just "jumpimg on the bike for ONE RUN"!!!
