low horsepower numbers on dyno
I had a fully muzzy system, pc3, 5 degrees of ignition advance, K&n filter and I only got 159.4 SAE on (Fastlines Cycles dyno in fremont) I think his correction factor is lower.. A stock 12r only made 152.. I then yanked the muzzy put on a full system akrapovic and I got 165.6 no custom mapping same dyno..
Note: My oil was over filled and I know that effects it
haven't had my cams degreed
no valve adjustment 15,000 miles
no throttle body sinc , it is time for service
Question? How are you guys getting mid 170'd to low 180's on your bikes.. Are your dynoes on the STD scale? I do live in California are the bikes here a little watered down with smog ( which I yanked and capped off) The magazines list the 12r from 161-163 on the dynoes bone stock.. Whats the deal here.. I even saw an 02 12R on Muzzys website and it read 183.3 with just a PC3r and pipe.. Then I called Kurt and he said I should get only about 170 with the Muzzy.. Then about 190 with the 1270 kit.. Then Brock racing advertises his dyno chart on his website at 189.5 with his 4-2-1 sidewinder exhaust. Somebody help to get me on the right track.

do it the easy way.
get it in uncorrected and take the readings of the day and convert it yourself dyno weather stations are not very accurate unless adjusted correctly

Put in a good 10 w 40 Synthetic (or thinner Never thicker)
Only put in 3 total quarts
Have your valves adjusted
Have your throttle Bodies Sync.
Use a Dyno with a Sniffer and at least tune the 100% Throttle to no richer than 12.9 to 1
THEN tell us the results

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but, I had a Muzzy pipe and an HMF pipe and a Brock/Hindle pipe on my bike the same day, same dyno.
They were all within 4hp of each other. The HMF was not perfectly tuned in, but it was close. The Muzzy was using the "Muzzy Race Map" found at the 12r.org site and the Brock pipe (not sidewinder) was tuned on the dyno.
The power was 171 - 175 and my bike was a stock motor, 2000 model.
I'm sure you've noticed that the 2000's and 2001's get low 170's and the 2002's seem to get 178-183hp with similar mods. Noting your other thread about the Sidewinder, you probably also are keeping in mind that some peeps use oxygenated gas for impressive numbers.
I'm not sure the map for a Muzzy or HMF pipe would work well on the Akra. If I recall correctly, they are more closely a 4-1 design, where-as I thought the Akra had something more akin to a 4-2-1 design. (ie. a longer '2' section)

Terrible dyno/operator. Your numbers make no sense. Go somewhere else. You should be seeing 170-175 on any of those pipes with the proper map. This time of year in the BAy area the air is great. You have almost no correction factor.
Oh, by the way,
Before you follow my good friend Vincent's advice and lower your oil volume to 3 qts make sure you have an extra $2500 or so in the bank to spend on your new crank, rods, bearings and maybe cases. Hey! It could happen....

Not total Oil Volume, just change and USE 3 quarts. The engine retains about 1/2 to 3/4 of a quart of Oil and never above the middle of the site Glass!
