New stainless stock or Cometic layered gasket? Use nothing, ever.

doug thanks, the gasket came from muzzy with the bigblock. i am assuming it is cometic. and is there any surface prep that is best on the billet block and fresh milled head? like a certian grit sandpaper or scouring pad or should i leave it right froom the machining? none of the mating surfaces are the original. i notice factory surfaces are fairly smooth, thanks a lot.

hey jc i hear u man but i dont know where this oversize offset gasket came from. and i hear from people that are very well known that builds fast stuff in there shop, to use gasgacinch or cooper coat. even on the spring steel, thats why i i threw this out there cause i always thought not to use anything. since neither surface is original i figured u experienced guys could help me with the best method. and the head guy used a fairly rough belt on his table when he surfaced the head. so if u said use a 400 grit sandpaper or maybe a 600 then thats what i was asking. if rough is good like my girl say it is, then i do it rough. thanks man.

Fly cut head.
Block must be surfaced ground(or send to millieum.
And I have NEVER used any sealer on a OEM or cometic gasket. Bigblock or stock block

I use something when installing my Head Gaskets "DeChlorinated Brake Cleaner" and WHite Heavy Duty Paper towels. I clean the Head and Cylinder several times let dry then put the gasket and Head on. Follow the Torque sequence. I use 5 PSI to start and tighten it down twice then move up in force.
Remember then Head Gaskets already have a sealer on them which is that Black Stuff.
