Boss Hoss Saga Continued.......

I pretty much blew a gasket after I read Dave's scans of the article, but I know now how I'm gonna handle it. I doubt if the cruiser rag will do anything to make a jap bike look better, but maybe the guys at Cycle World, Motorcyclist, or Sport Rider would atleast do a side bar article to tell what really happened if I send them a copy of the video. To add to the video I have pics too.

I'll try and not get to stoked up again, but I cannot stress to any of you how fucking "off" this article is. Yeah they did ride 2-up to get better traction on one run, and it was the best run we had because he could get in it harder, even still I pulled him and waxed his ass EVERYTIME. That is just the facts and I have video, or will have, to prove it. I even sent Lucky and Melissa a copy so I know there are a few copies floating around. My buddy at the dealership has one, and Otis has one which I have asked him to send back because it has the best picture quality of them all.

If any of you have an inside line on how I could actually get the facts printed in a magazine e-mail me at rellis@ecsis.net

A cool head prevails and I will get this straightened out without going "Redneck" on anyone. I want to portray us sportbikers in a "Good" way when it comes to matters like this. It was very hard for me not to call or go visit Monte earlier, but that isn't the solution, and he probably isn't the one who told this story. If he is then I'm a little dissapointed in him to say the least.

Pics.........

I may have shrunk these down too small, but here are some pics from the race.

Here we are coming to the line.

Here is the 502 Boss Hoss and Monte's rider.

Here is my 12 as it was the day of the race.

Here is Monte on the far left and the rest of his crew.

Here is a view in the direction we ran. Note the lack of an ambulance, police car, radar gun, and anything else that supposedly was there.

Here is my lightweight self after the runs.

Tell them...I'll run them on a "BONE-SHOWROOM STOCK BIKE" anytime they want...
Of coarse...we would need a "volunteer to supply the bike"

I'm talking...drive it off the showroom floor TO THE RACE if that's what they want...
Although...I doubt??? ANY dealers/new-owners would "let us do that"

Yeah....

Kevin it would be awesome if we could do that. A stock 12 will beat the BH with no problem. If a 175lb. dude had rode my bike it'd been even MORE of a joke.

Ninjaman12R......no answer from my bud yet.......if you can get a copy of the runs let me know. I won't bother him with it unless you need it. My friend told me how you spanked him every time, and he is not one to exagerate about ANYTHING. Here is an e-mail he sent me about your races. It is dated 04/26/01.

"Hey WARBIRD,
I've been riding the Busa to work and its a great bike,I talked to my dealer about the camchain recall, seems all they need is the VIN# of the bike,I'm going to have a turbosystem installed on the bike so I don't think the warranty will stay in effect with those mods.
I know that move has got to be whipping you, well you can always throw a leg over that ZX-12R and hit some of those beautiful Kentucky roads.

Oh yeah,Ninjaman12R beat both Boss Hosses (350 & 502) in every category, but I gotta tell ya that 502 Hoss is a impressive mutha,I have the runs on VHS if you would like a copy let me know,Monte Warne who is the owner of Boss Hoss cycles was a great guy about the whole thing,I ALMOST hated to see him lose,he gave me a nice Boss Hoss t-shirt."

I'm waiting to hear someone bitch about the copyrighted material scanned and posted on the internet.

The Barnes and Nobles here must be a good one, all the bike magazines you could think of, even the British stuff, and some you've never heard of before. I saw the post and drove there to get a copy.

Dave....

You're the man, I tried to find the magazine last night and had no luck. It was even worse than I figured though, I hate reading it, but am glad I got to see it. I'm sure someday I'll be able to sit back and laugh about it, but it won't be anytime soon.

What an UGLY "motorcycle"...

I have no doubt that if you would put a 10" slick and bars on one of those things, it would run some sensational 1/4 mile time. That is assuming that the thing wouldn't turn immediately left and kill thirty spectators. Anyway that wouldn't be stock, would it?

As I posted on the labusa.org site:

I have never, in all the magazines that I have read, ever seen a quarter mile or top speed number on a Bimota or a Boss Hoss. If Boss Hoss's(?) are so bad (dealers at trade shows ALWAYS say that they and their clones run hard nines), why wouldn't that information be as common knowledge as that the sky is blue?

Is that race gas sitting on your trailer with your bike? My question is how did you make up the 13 bike lengths that you were "behind" if both bikes were going 172 at the finish line, it is kinda tought to make up distance that way.

Yeah.....

Yeah it was Turbo Blue race gas. Yeah it was my ace in the whole. It probably hurt me more than it helped me.

Here's an update:
I e-mailed Motorcyclist a copy of the article, pics from when we raced, and told the real story. I also told them I had video to back up ALL my claims. I'd love to get the real story in print.

SSup Rick...You sent me a copy of that video also!!! I have showed it to all my friends and a few guys that I know from a well known motorcycle gang!!! You had to see the disbelief on their faces, but they aknowledged the Boss Hoss losing!!! As for my friends comments they all said that we can buy 2 ZX12s with all the go fast stuff, regi, tax, insurance and still have spending money!!!

I hope one of the mags pick up your story but Rick, I dont mean to be negative but all the mags hate the ZX12 and to actually show the american people that the $30,000.00 BossHoss got its ass kicked by a stock ZX12 with a slip on by a regular guy, not a professional rider!!! I would love to see your story in the mag!!!

Rocket...

Seen one of the big block powered trikes run at the local 1/8 mile tracks and even on the strip I'd kill it. Was running 7.30s or so, my big ass has rans 6.95s on my 12 when it had stock gearing and a bolt-on can. That was not lowered or strapped, bike was set up just like I was heading to the gap, for curves.

The power is definitely there for one of the boss hosses to be a force to be reckoned with. But gearing and stuff all comes into play. The total package is not there, and if you did ever set one up to be quick it'd be even less reliable. They aren't made to be thrashed.

Crotchrocket I forgot about you having a copy. Thanks for the props, and I do know it won't be easy to get somebody to print the story, but you never know.

Okay I am getting pissed as well on this one

So I am on the R1 Forum as my buddy usually hangs out there and this idiot carburetor mike claims that he has a Boss Hoss and they are the true kings of speed. Then he qualifies this statement by reciting the Barnett article.
Now that is some bullshit that needs to be rectified quick!
Check it out at www.r1-forum.com, look for the Boss hoss link.
Ninjaman send them the video to shut them up once and for all.
Cheers

My question is why would you print "a story" that makes your Maqazine a Tabloid. If you write "Hear Say" then your writting fiction. Lets see his reaction to the tape. We have been going through this shit since the 12 was introduced and the mags started printing articles. Now the Boss "HOG" is the king when will the envy end? Oh the pain the pain of it all.

These guys love their BOSS HOGGS cuz

they can build them right out front of their trailer park and the bike has enough room on board for their sister.
Man you should read the junk they are talking about on that link. Its really sad.
They are whining cuz the ZX12r wasnt stock for fuck sake.
What in the hell is stock about the BOSS HOGG? Nothing.
They need to admit that they bought a car with 2 wheels that was made, sounds and acts like a redneck.

I had this talk some time back......conclusion was, race gas(VP fuels, any oct.) on a stock 12 was of no advantage??? I'm not much of a wrench, so I did not really understand.

These motors are "designed" to run on PUMP GAS...
Even though ZX12s DO have pretty high compression...they don't have "enough compression" to burn these fuels that ARE harder (slower) to burn...The fuel won't burn fast enough to make MORE power than PUMP GAS in these motors...

NUETEC fuel WILL incease power but it's VERY expensive and...STINKY!!!
CAN'T hide the stuff/SMELL if your using it!!!
