CycleWorld Magazine Ripping Off Subscribers?
Is CycleWorld Magazine ripping off long-time subscribers? YOU BET! How do I know?
I received my subscription renewal notice in the mail recently. The bill is for $14.00 for one year, or $22.00 for two years. I figured not bad, and I was getting out my checkbook to renew but just then a subscription advertisment card dropped out of my magazine on the floor, and when I picked it up I was surprised to see "CycleWorld JUST $10" on the printed card.
So I wonder why is it that the drop-out cards placed in the magazines say $10 per year and my subscription renewal notice is $14.00 per year? Hell I've been a subscriber for more than 10 years! Shouldn't I be getting the better rate? What the hell! This made me a little angry, even though we're only talking about $4.00 here, it's the principal.
I decided to call CycleWorld to complain however they offered no explaination, but they offered me the better ($10) rate. WOW. GEE THANKS CycleWorld.
SAVE YOURSELF $$ AND CALL CYCLEWORLD TO RENEW OVER THE PHONE. Use code "2A52" printed on the drop-out card. And while you're doing it, ask them why they charge their regular subscribers more than they advertise on drop-out cards.

save yourself $$$ and cancel your subscription. Tell them you get all your information online and it's faster and it's free.

First, I always wait for the "Deal" for 3 years when my time is about to expire and they are getting desperate. I think the last 3 year deal cost me $18.
I had a severe problem with Motorcyclist. A freind of mine called me about the Helmet issue in May or June this year. I went to find it and realized that I had not received an issue since July 2004 and my subscription was good to 9/06. I called them and they first offered to just extend it but I wanted the Magazines. They told me "I" had cancelled it then. I asked for proof and a copy of the refund check then they asked for proof I had paid stating I was cancelled for non payment (Right! after them sending me16 issues). I found the check copy and send a fax to them. SOS (Same Old Stuff) I did a D&B report and called the CEO's office . In 5 more weeks, I had all 14 back issues and 1 additional year of subscription.
Like Bergie said, do not lay down for them

What, you guys havent figured this out long ago?
They're counting on your stupidity or forgetfulness.
Personally I wont support them...even for bathroom reading material.
Printing a Laguna Seca article in an Oct issue?? yeah, thats current events alright.....
Those assholes should get into the new millenium... shit SPEC II still advertises and I dont think they support any bikes made after 1986....lol

Vince... I hear ya.. same thing happened to us with SUperbike from the UK.. got a 1 year sub... only received 6 issues.. they claimed I had never subscribed... then apologized and told me I'd have back issues and a year free.
received 2 more issues and then nothing.
That's the last time I'll ever sub a mag.
It's all online here and I dont need to pay.
If I want to read it in the bathroom I'll carry the laptop in there if need be, or simply hit "print".
THe mags are dead.

Guys,
Let your subscription expire and always enroll as a new subscriber. The deal for $10 is supposedly for new subscribers only. That's what I do and never ever get a 2 or 3 year subscription...they will stop sendig the magazine before the 3 years is up!! At least that has been my experience. My .02 on this subject.
Thanks,

I still have their first issue where they gave a great review of the ZX11!. I preferred it when they have 6 issues because I have too much junk in my house (Mostly Magazines)
Not to HiJack this thread but has anyone read the June Issue of Motorcyclist and the November issue about Helmets?? Looks like a "LOT" Better Helmets are coming down the Pike and that the DOT Standard of better (BY A LOT) than the SHCA and SNELL

well, with two riders in the house and only one computer, having a mag laying around tends to keep the scrapping down to a minimum.... also, the back of the mag is a pretty cool place to find web addresses for products that are not normally found on the shelves....

Actually I'd thought it was a p'chopped ferret but actually, slug, I guess you're right, it's more likely a cat, though the chopping makes it harder to tell.
