Dunlop 208's suck ass!
Has anyone else had shitty luck with the Dunlop 208's. I have had them twice and right about 1/32nd from the tread wear bars that rear tire splits right down the middle and down to the cords. The fronts always just wear choppy. I decide to go witha sport touring tire this time, they say it should last longer than those 208's. But its a metzler.

Michelin Pilot Powers....
"To each his own" though
Just replace them more often, it's an expensive hobby anyways.

The 208s are good for DragRacing, I still use the front tire...For stock wheelbase the 208 rear is perfect...

Pilot Powers.....Crashtech got like 5k out of a set, and I am at 3k right now with lots of tread stillleft in the tire....and they give great traction for a street tire....

Even if all tires are black and round their not the same. Try Michelin and fall in love. If You ride aggressively or in rain - stay a far away from Avon ST.

Dunlop D208 are the crappiest tires ever made for the 12.. As soon as I took them off and traded them for the Mezteler Sportex I could keep up with my wife on her zx9r..

try riding on a twisty road every once in a while
i had to run d208s all the way to california and back. got close to 4k on the rear tire, but it was so squared off it wasn't funny.
the tread wear bars are off to the side though, so flat-line riding you won't get those worn down as fast as the center
ANY tire that has the wear bars towards edge will do the same if ridden the same way.
pilot powers are nice, metzeler m1 are great. d208 handle better than the m1 though....
but yeh, they are pure crap...

Hey its 2005, not 2001.....
The tires to have are powers, 014 and M-1.
Yes 208 are the cheapest, and the cheapest in another way 2.
I have a power in the front and this is sex with a 20 year old, horny in Casa de Campo.
But if you whant to have multiorgasm, a bridgestone 002 med compound.

yeh, for track use the powers are awesome. little talladega last month i was turning better laptimes than in april, and only once drug a knee doing so. PLENTY of grip. And is till haven;t gotten to my best time (with the powers) that i had with the M1s last year. Alas, trackdays this year were few and far between.
but on the street M1 or 208 are great tires. I'f you're pushing those tires on the street hard enough to slip them badly then you need to think twice about the difference between street and track, and in leaving a margin for error.
If i run off hte track at talladega, there is medical attention within 3 minutes of me.
if i run off the road at deal's gap, there *might* be medical attention there in 45 minutes. IF someone sees it happen and calls in.....
PS: don't forget when changing tires and tire manufacturers that suspension adjustments may be needed to compensate for slight profile and ride-height differences. I think a lot of "these tires suck" comments come from suspension-related woes more than the tires themselves. My first set of M1s i thought sucked pretty badly, and a new rear shock made those same tires awesome..... Just food for thought.

slug, respect you opinion 98%.
I have seen 208 just peell of the exterior layer, seen 208 spin like hell under hard acceleration in a 99 R1, and complains of them from hard core riders, and they dont last long, only good thing is price
Then change to 014 and problem solved.

i wonder though if there were pressure issues or whatnot, never had one peel like that before, even at the track beating the ever-living snot out of them

Ditto. 208s work great in the mountains, on the drag strip and at Maxton. Great all around tire. If you want a road race tire, buy a road race tire. If you want a drag tire, buy a drag tire. The 208 does it all, very well.

well all i got to say is i ran the 208's till by chance i found the power's at a hell of a deal so i decided to see what all the fuzz was about on my ZX12.and behold i ripped the almost new 208's off of my RC51 as well for the pilots and never looked back.
