2002 Drag race times (Dinwiddie,Va.)

Went to track yesterday...One of my boys ran a 9.35 at 144mph with the new 2002. Akrapovic pipe, 6 inch arm, airshifter. Seems to run pretty damn good, but I dont think they are neccesarly faster than the 2000. Seemed to run better down low in rev range though. K Cadby, I always believed your times were true, and now I seen with my own eyes that these bikes are capable of going into the .20's with a stock engine. Have another friend with a 2000 12. Same rider as above rode it....9.03 at 148.7 all motor. Shook up the whole track with that run.

YEEEup...
It STILL amazes me how fast these things are
Was that 02 lowered also??? If not...that's REALLY fast!!!

I'm sure you probably saw the post that RICKEY went 9.54 on an 02 here in Gville...lowered ONLY...STOCK PIPES!!!
That was a "jump on and go" run also...no "practice"...
Air was KILLER though

Bike really was not lowered much due to swing arm length and clearance underneath tail section. The 02 has a tab bit more clearance under there, more so than 2000. I measured, he has 4 1/2 inches from top of rear tire to under tail. Its sitting way higher than the third hole thats used on the muzzy dogbones. I put a swing arm on my bike. I know it sounds crazy, but I seemed to be more comfortable with a short arm with the bike slammed to ground, more so than it being up in the air with a longer arm. The practise that I did in the streets did me no justice at the track. Guess I just have to get used to this set up. Was running a 17/48 gearing. Seemed hard to get it rolling ( 60 foot), then I got a little more aggressive and tire started spinning coming out of the box. I was thinking of going back to a 46 in the rear. Dont really leave that hard, but that 12 will sure make up a lot of ground up top side. I was running a 16/44 gearing with the short arm and achieved a 9.69 at 148.8mph. Im wondering considering these facts that I have mentioned, which gearing do u think would suit my style better? 16/44.17/46/17/48? My best 60 foot was only a 1.63 yesterday. Dont think I was modulating the clutch properly. With my short arm I seemed to be able to throw clutch away almost immediately after launching. When I tried that with the swing arm, bike would wheely pretty badly. By the way, my boy rode my bike, first pass turned a 9.40 at 144.0 so I pretty much know that this gearing will work, but doesnt seem to suit my riding style. Please tell me if u think I should be riding the clutch more out of the box.
