valve guides

I just got a call from the machine shop that is doing my head.He told me all the exhaust guides are worn and those were the ones where the emissions bullshit attaches to.The holes were all clogged up also. The dealer wanted $25 apiece for the guides and 6 for the seals.APE had the guides for $112.20 and seals for$37.95 for a set of 16 each.20,000 miles on the bike.I figured to give a heads up to anyone taking their head off.
How do you remove the valve plates on the valve cover?

I have never had a problem with the Kleen Air reed valves. Poke them through the Air Holes under the Valve Cover

Tried Vincent, holes are at an angle .I ended up spraying choke&carb cleaner and that loosened the gum right up.Then I slid an o-ring pick down the outside and was able to free up the reed valves.I'm still waiting on A.P.E. for the guides.

Good question I can't find anything on the APE site..

Email Jay he will help ya.

Jay@aperaceparts.com I believe..

Looking further it appears they have the same part number from APE, so they should be the correct ones..
