Damnit...I spent the past 12 months (after having my red 12 for a year before that) making my 12 handle better, accellerate harder, and stop faster than Kaw ever thought possible. Now I find myself looking at the '02 and wondering "How far can I go with *that* one?". Damn...

It's all relative...

lets get a side by side comparison of a 00-02 and go from there. All the mags etc never once had the suspension set up properly when they were testing them. The preload was all wrong as I am sure the compression and rebound. Some of the refinement of the 02 is nice, but don't fool yourself and think the 02 is aerodynamically better than the 00-01. What I will always like about the 00 is that in its un-refined state, it has character that makes it fun and unruly. The 02 12r is looking like a slightly larger 9r. Oh, well, just a couple of more months till the weather gets better.

As for the bottom end power, try more timing.

Later................................................../

...saw a red 02' last night...it's a nice bike for sure...I want a thunder blue one...it'd be cool if Kawasaki gave it a multifuntion instrument panel like the new 02'R1...maybe in the next couple of years...I looked at my bike again...and you know what?...that damn in-your-face snorkel has really grown on me...nothing...NOTHING...and I mean NOTHING! out there looks like the 00s-01s'...it IS a unique looking bike...not 'butt-ugly' unique like the ...well...you know, but unique in a beautiful and brutish way...like some of you are saying here...R A W...from all angles...kinda' reminds me of the raw beauty of the 427SC Cobra...go look at your 12R bikes...just makes you smile, don't it?...gets even better when we ride it

Honey, I've met someone new...

I love my green 2000 more and more each time I ride her. Now this. Have I really met someone new? Am I being unfaithful? Is this what divorce is like?

The test of 02 is too much sugar and honey...
Where is the salt and pepper ???
I think it´s better to wait for some European bike magazines
they have the gift of saying it straight.

MCN TEST FROM THE UK

Wont scan, so...some quotes:

"Get it on an open road and the bike hits really hard. If the old one was fast, this one has just gone off the scale."

"there's enough torque to pull from 20mph at 1500rpm in top gear." "What is a surprise is how cleanly the ZX12R gets on with it"

"whatever claims K is making for the lack of drive-train lash and less snatchy fuel injection, they're bang on the money"

"Accelerate and you really, really have to hang on tight, using the anti-slip seat fabric for all its worth and digging your knees in the tank as the thing takes off".

"If ever a bike could be a license breaker, this is it. It takes the michael out of every other road bike and that includes the GSXR1000"

"Gun it through the gears and you get to 130 within what feels like less than a couple of seconds. But then it just keeps pulling, harder, faster, with the engine growling and ram-air filling its lungs"

"Sit on a motorway at legal speeds then wind on the throttle in top gear and its like you've just changed down to third on something like a blade. Its that quick."

"But while its noticably faster, it really is much easier to ride as Kawasaki said it wanted it to be"

"take it on a track day and it will keep up with most bikes in the corners - and blow them away on the straights"

"what all this means is not only that the 12R is alot faster, but it also handles alot better than its rivals like the blackbird and hayabusa, though it isnt as sharp as an r1"

Engine - 97% The most powerful - period
Handling - 93% Not just for straight lines
Braking - 93% scrub off 180mph
Comfort - 92% All day bliss
Grin Factor - 96% - wind it on and laugh
OVERALL - 95%
