The new Brochures are in at the Yamaha dealers, i saw the info brochure on the new R6adn new R1's the LE is sweet looking.
Adam if you are looking at the R1, my advice wait to see the new LE in person before you by a plain R1.......all the upgrades you could possibly do to the plain R1 is done already with the LE....only thing to do would be exhaust and brakelines....wheels and suspension is already done.....my dealer here figures the R1 LE will sell for about 18Grand.....A bit much, but there will only be 500 sold in the US......

I've bought exactly 2 brand new bikes since 1980. A '00 ZRX and a '00 ZX12....and Kawasaki drops 'em both. WTF? I think I'll keep 'em now.
Maybe this'll bump the resale on the 12R a bit. A '01, bone stock, 12K miles went for $7000 on ebay this morning.
Big "Duh!?" on the ZRX Kawasaki. You got a ZRXOA rally sign on the ROK flyers ferfuckssake. 7000+ members and you discontinue the bike(in the USA anyway) What are you thinking? Upgrade the thing with some trick goodies and a few revisions and Bang!. Um, didja see the new Fizzy? Yamaha is paying attention.
I'll reserve judgement on the Zx14 until I see it in the flesh. Just may be the sport tourer I've been looking for. If not, Triumph here I come.
I think Kawasaki has too many things going on to focus heavily on the motorcycle market. Aerospace, trains, robotics, boring(digging) machines etc.
Vince, get an 1100 for the turbo. Come on over zrxoa.org
As for "After riding a ZX12R you won't be happy with a ZRX." Well, I dont think I'd ever not have a ZRX anymore. Does everything. Though I do prefer the 12R for touring, and the ZRX for around town.
I'm working on a batch of hitches in the next few weeks.

Right now I am riding my wife's 250 Ninja and even take it to Daytona where "WE" ride it double. (Of course different rear shock and fork springs) and you are saying that I would not be "Satisfied" with a ZRX?? Understand I races and beat a few S-1's I even have the tape from Burke Lake front airport on ESPN for the first indy car race where the Bikes were the support class and I finished 5th. So they do turn me on and I want one!

I've seen it and I WISH!!! But when I crash at the track I CRASH! And it'll cost more to fix, ALOT more! And I just went throught that with my 954. Also I'm not looking at riding a $20,000+ bike I won't see for another 6 months. I'm only turning 1:25's at JenningsGP the local road course(lap record 1:16), until I get to an expert level of my own personal abilities a better suspension isn't going to make me much faster. This is made clear when you're on a stock bike and pass a built to the hilt latest and greatest racebike on the outside of a turn. Now when I get into the 19's I'll worry about the bike, but that's going to take more track time.
But this is going to be a streetbike for the 1st year or so and on the street none of that stuff is really needed, only real limits are the rider's abilities and his nerve.

Seriously though, I rode ErictheJew's ZX10(thanks again) which got me the itch for a new literbike but I got a helluva deal on a leftover R1.
Free.
And you can't beat free.

That is all part of Rossi's prerace ritual.He does it before every race.Stands up while the bike is coasting on the warmup lap and tugs at his nuts and ass.I think its a message to the other riders,something like suck my dick this is the view you will be seeing all day.

I hear ya adam, but a good suspension, and slicks and you will shave a few more seconds off pretty easy.....
I was going to have go through the forks on the ZX10 this winter and put a new shock on it, looks like tha tmoney will go to moving the wife and I to El Paso instead...

At least you have your priorities straight. Any good tracks near El Paso?
Already got the slicks(1 extra set left), that with the sag set-up and clickers adjusted took my avg. times from high 1:20's to mid 1:20's. BIG diff! I had no idea the stock suspension was so good once dialed in. It went from a wobbley shakey butterknife to a knee/peg draggin razorblade. Amazing how important stability is. I'll start investing in some suspension on the 954 after I get the most out of it as is, prolly just the internals.
Though it would be one of the ultimate sportbikes I just couldn't see putting a $20,000 R1 on the track, I'm a cheap bastard! Maybe after I retire the 954 this 05 R1 will go track only but I don't know, maybe only occasional trackdays.
That old 54 was way underated back in the day(4 years ago?). It's a great trackbike, light as a ZX10, great mid range(with HTEV), and best of all CHEAP!
God I miss the track Gotta get back there.

yeah there are a few tracks, closest one being 109 miles away in Deming New Mexico.
There are a few tracks with in 6 hours of El Paso, but I will concentrate on the one, maybe 2 closest ones.
I just sold 2 sets of slicks that I had picked up for my ZX10. When I start getting tracktime again I will go back to the Pirelli Supercorsas. I really liek those tires on the track.
May even take the wife ZX6R and convert it to track only....hehehehe wonder how I can make her think thats a good idea.....lmbo
As far as putting that R1 LE on the track.....if I cant ride it like its suppose top be ridden, I have no use for it.... Thats like not putting a Goldwing on the highway....lmao

Nice mix of both. the mountains provide plenty of twists and you know there's a LOT of straight out flat roads. Ruidosa, New Mexico and Hatch, New Mexico. there are a lot more places, but I'm not the resident expert.
As far as local riders, there are a few, but most are the 'young punk' crowd. I usualy ride alone or in a very small group. I can hook you up with a ret. 1SG that rides the Deming track religiously.... He's real good about putting together small group rides too(mostly military guys that aren't into the stunting and pissing people off)
There are a couple of us that get together on post and have lunch on thursdays. When are you planning on getting here? Where are you coming from?
Housing is getting crazy around here with the CAV showing up....rental$ are going up and apartments are getting harder to find.
Seriously, if you need anything, just let me know. You and I know, the Army only does so much and the rest is on us.

I don't have anything to add to this thread but I like logging in and seeing the title up there at the top. Some Kawa marketing type should use that as the general response to the new model and the killing of the 12. Hand out follow up folders at the marketing meeting titled

thanks man......I hear ya about housing, still trying to sell my house here in Ft Knox.....I have my RV trailer I can stay in so I am not in a hurry to find a house, will tkae my time. I will be there the first part of January, prolly the 3rd or 4th. have to sign in on the 10th.
While I will ride the occasional wheelie, I am not a stunter by any means, and I would prefer to ride in small groups of expierenced riders, no matter what they are riding.
I will definatley want to hook up with you ret. 1sg buddy as i plan on spending alot of time in Demming at the track.....
Is there a state park, or local RV park that I can use until I can buy a house? Or a campground on post?
