last I spoke to him, Jim Owen will be there. A lot of work done and a lot more to go. I am not going if I am not finished and rested. Last year to get to the October meet I had to work night and day and take days off and spent 2 - 24 hour periods working! I am not doing that again because that was too much like when i was young and dumb plus had the energy to do it. I am just finishing up on the fairing and seat to clear the exhaust. A lot of work on the seat to clear everything and have a new lower mount. The fairing was warped in to squeeze the radiator and twice I have had to pry it out and use a heat gun to reset the memory so it will fit better. The Belly pan with a cut out for the Side winder and Wide Band O-2 sensor and now mount the dzus fasteners tonight. Did I mention I still must paint all of this?? 
once the body work is finished, I still must mount and hook up the Data Acquisition system and chang the Jetting for the fuel, clean off the bad black paint on the red front rim and repaint it and mount new tires front and rear then balance them and put a hundred miles or so on them. Did I mention some Dyno time??
Once this is all done I still need to put new front shocks on the old van, the left front has gone bad so when I hit a depression, the van rocks front to rear and no dampening on the left front (Under warranty but will still have to buy the right front) Did I Mention the right rear wheel was bent and I have a new wheel I have to mount the tire on ??
I have all of 8 days to get this done while working at my job until 6 or so PM every day and no work on Saturday (Church) and waiting for Entropy to send me the MTC Lock up that I also need to mount!
NOW, ASK ME IF I KNOW I AM GOING??

Jeeez!!!!!!!! Aint it fun to race something  Your post Vince is exactly why I said screw it! This is why I don't attend organized events anymore. Their schedule and mine never seem to be one and the same. You're suppose to get ready to race NOT race to get ready!!!!! I always seemed to be doing the later. I became too much like a job.

Dang VH, I'll ask you again in mid-October :-)
I am going to try to pickup the 1290cc silver bike from Lee's Performance this Saturday, if all goes well. Dude told me it made 193rwhp on pump gas, should touch 200ish with MR9. On the dry kit with C-16 it makes a little under 280rwhp.
If I don't get it on Saturday, that means a day off work next week, and if that happens I may only make the event on Sunday because I would have to travel on Saturday. If I get the bike this weekend I will try to make both days.
This all also depends on if I can find all the hardware to get the bodywork back on the bike, and put some miles on it during the week maybe riding to work. It will still need a damper and kill switch, and I need to go on a slimfast diet for the next week to make sure I can still fit my fat ass into my old leathers! I've gained about 10 pounds since the last event.
VH if I were you, I'd skip the lockup install, too many things to work on in too short of time, including tuning. You know that if everything else was already 100% and tuned, I would say go for it, but the lockup itself will need some adjustment, and you dont want to be playing with that in addition to all your other stuff in one weekend.
Concentrate on the wideband install, skip the lockup and by all means who cares about paint! Paint doesn't make you go faster..

But Bergie!! If I do not look Pretty in the pictures when we join the club, then the people will say What a ratty bike! Remember we have to be better to be equal  (At least that was how I was raised  Worse yet is the Idiot that sold my tire last week then Randall put in an immediate order for another one they did not send the order until this week on Monday and the tire is coming from Oregon!)
I KNOW you know what you are talking about with the Lock Up (I watched you for myself ) but my feeling is, that Hitting of the rev limiter geared 19 / 43 means that either the tire is really spinning up or the clutch is slipping even possible both! Jim who has a set up that I copied a lot from stated that he could not go over 200 "UNTIL" he installed the Lock up. Said he was "Locked" in the high 190. Does that sound familier to you?? Sure sounds like what I am dealing with to me also.
I am resigned to not leaving home until I am at least 99.8% Satisfied'that everything I can do has been done and to my satisfaction. I do not need any more trips to Maxton for "Experience", I need Results. It really pisses me off when my biks does not run as it should. SO even if the October race comes around and I an still not satisfied with what it is doing, I still am not going. I also got Pierre to find a complete set of OD 5th and 6th Gears to install over the winter so I can leave better off NOS and then pull the taller gears with NOS. I am DAMM SERIOUS about this.
BTW, I hope that they FINALLY get you up and running again because it has been waay too long since you were there!

Never had a problem breaking 200 with the stock clutch, then again I wasn't using nitrous either.
Actually I was there in June, at the June meet I rode my friend David's Honda 1000 CBR. Beat the snot out of it many times over, it was just "slow". Nothing I could do to break 175 on it but it was "stock".
It will be nice to go fast again, shouldn't have any trouble on the 1290 bike Lee just did the cylinder head for me, and it's making just enough HP to do it. Certainly wont set any records, but if the wind is cooperative or absent, 200 should happen if the stars align properly. 1290/Lees head/stock cams/Hindle pipe. If it wont break 200 n/a I'll get mad and put the dry kit on and put down a number.
I wasn't planning on spraying it, but a "shake down" run on the kit might be fun 205+??

JUST Nothing like going Fast! Hearing the sounds of the engine, Transmission and even the tug of the vacuum behind you trying to pull you off the bike, I like all of that!
Good point about 200 but not spraying. 19/ 43 is about 18 / 40 an VERY Tall gear and cannot hit 200 because of being on the Rev limiter with Randall on the bike?? I know he spins the tire some, but 20 to 25 MPH more than the land speed Before the timers?? He should have felt the bike get lose from all of that spinning

there is no adjustment needed on the lock up for top end races, and the install is just like changing out a clutch.
VH, notice that the hat only has 3 of the "weights" on the arms. The other 3 evaporated in my garage
You'll need to go to home depot or sears hardware and get 3 lil cap screws, 6 lil washers, 3 lock nuts. Everything else is there. I didn't wanna delay sending the stuff to you, nope.

Karl, you are Scaring me! Ar you saying that the Missing weights consist of a cap screw, Lock Nut and washer? (Those "ARE" the weights?) Then how can you had or subtract weight? (Remove the washer?

yes, the weights are just nuts, bolts and washers tightened around ears, you add weight by adding washers. It's silly to think all that potential-to-come-loose shit is flying around a bazillion miles per hour in your clutch case. I'd run it with no weight 1st and see what you get. The arms themselves are weight.

And lockups have used those nuts and bolts for adjustment since their inception , they'll be fine , use locknuts to be sure . One guy I know uses different weights on each arm to make a multi stage lockup and has done it for many years without failure .

It is a good way to get started , just bring plenty of spare clutch plates , with the power you're putting to it you might need them .

nothing to be scared about
The nuts washers & lil screws are indeed the weights and they DON'T fly off any more than the nuts on the connecting rod bolts do. Playing with those weights (and that bag of static spring shims) is for folk working at improving the launch & 1st 100'+/- at the 1/4mi. After that its locked.
Run all the weights, don't try to finesse it. What you want is to lock that clutch up. It will not burn clutch plates, no need for extras, although extras are always good on general principles, eh?
With yr gearing, by the time you hit 70-80mph+/- in 1st it'll be locked up tighter n' a bull's ass in fly time and stay that way for the rest of the pass.

I will miss that more than anything else and you know it. I know it is going to be harder for you than any other time to be there without John around some where! I told Susan that they should bury / scatter his ashes at the Finish line. SHe said that his children have yet to bring them back from Salt Lake City and that they knew he did not want to be cremated! Speak to your children about such things! I KNOW Lydia is going to do what ever you want but she may not be in a position to. (Sorry, I just still miss the Man. I can see him all of the time in my minds eye)

My bike was supposed to be ready today, it's not. It's only been at Lee's shop since March. Therefore I'm cancelling my Maxton plans. I sent him an email about it early last week and they said it would be done yesterday... again.
Tired of dealing with it, I'm done for the season (baby coming in 2-3 weeks).

I feel the fustration but my question is, did you go by there and speak to him in the flesh since he can hide from the Phone? Bergie, the difference between you and me is you have someone else to blame and deal with about your bike and with me, it is only me!! I promise myself that I will be ready for September and started on this in June! Here I am with less than a week to go and what can I say!?? I am tired of working on that rag but keep on because even if I fall short, I will be a lot closer for October. I see the same for you also. Are you saying that if the baby arrives a few weeks before Maxton no go or if not by maxton no go??
I just found out that Jim Owen will NOT be at the September meet but did you see that John Noonan will ride Dave Owen's bike??

I will not be going to Maxton in September. "Everything: is not to my satisfaction and all of the painting, Data loggers and Jet flow testing at different pressures are not finished yet let alone my van.
Bergie, I do have an idea, send an e-mail to Lee and ask him if he is going to go to Maxton? If he says he is, then ask him to finish and bring your bike which he has had since march so you can at least have one ride because October is out with the Birth of your next born!
