The double sided soared.....
The prision system is, corporate America. So in order for the prisons to produce products to sell...they need workers....therefore, they need inmates to make those products. How do they get them, by any means neccessary.
Dont get me wrong....if you commite a crime, be prepared to due the time.
Lets face it, uneccesary, excessive Speed kills.
Whether you are on a bike or in a vehicle, you have the responsibility of more than just yourself.
And why did that girl; @ 4am on March 5/02 in Vancity, need to be driving over 120 km in a 50km zone????? With five of her friends in the car? Perhaps it was a blessing that she was the only one to die.?
That is my question. And if she was to live, should she face 10 years in prision?

Damn good trivia skills Rocket
Yep, I was there. Can't believe you actually know the skippers name!! I also had the privilege of being Shore Patrol many times. Once when I was a new squid at Great Lakes a riot broke out at the EM club. They called us all to headquarters and took away our batons and then sent us to break it up. Military Intelligence I guess.

A guy that I used to work with at the IRS just had a thing for her. You know how all guys have that one movie or TV (television, NOT transvestite) girl that they had a crush on, probably around puberty, but they are someone that always stays way in the back of your mind? I never really thought much about her until I met him. True lies changed my opinion. Anyway, who would you want me to insert instead of her?

Then you must be Moroco Mole. Or is it Roscoe P. Coltrane?
Gee CVC, go change your "Depend's", I think they are full. No I did not care much for the IRS. Thanks for asking, though.
Like I owe you this.

Well if this means anything... my neighbor and buddy (Connecticut state trooper)has a gsxr 750 and he tells our group not to stick around if you think a cop might come after ya. So I usually dont stick around.
They dont chase bikes here in CT anyway. They know its hard to catch a bike. They also have been sued enough to know better.
On the other hand if a cop gets behind me without me knowing and theres a chance he got my plate I'm pulling right the hell over if he wants me to.
I guess its a situational thing.
Theres two options, get a ticket or dont get a ticket.
Ya gotta stay away from all other options.

Damn CVC...
That'a alot of questions!!! First of all, no I wasn't too well trained in the use of a baton. And they not only took away a piece of my equipment, except for an armband, that WAS my equipment. Was I confident? Well I was confident on the way to the scene because in high school I never lost a fight. I didn't leave the scene very confident. Of course, the real MP's bailed us out finally. The biggest problem was the entire incident was between Machinist's Mates and Gunner's Mates and I was just another Machinist's Mate once my arm band was torn off. Later I went to a school and got real training and a certificate. Bad guys really cringe at the sight of a certificate. OOOOOH! But I digress.
Let's see...would I do it again? I guess I would have to. Would I like it? Nope. Would I do your job? Not on your life!!! I almost feel guilty hiring new recruits because I don't think they realize what we are going to ask them to do. And I also feel guilty when there are only so many slots for advancement and too many candidates. Now I have to decide which one of these officers (many are friends) have to stay on the street and which get a cushier job.
Believe me, I am intimately involved in law enforcement. As an alderman, I write and pass laws. As chairman of the Public Safety Committee, I have to decide what equipment we can buy and how many officers we can hire. After the North Hollywood fiasco I wished I could double my budget and buy our officers tons of firepower and overwhelming numbers of back-up personnel. Hell, we even have a couple areas where handheld comms are almost non-existant. Small areas in nice neighborhoods but still, it's a scary thought.
I also go out on patrol quite often. Even took down a fleeing suspect (OK, was more like I was hanging on his arm). Now, I consider mayself a Libertarian at heart but when a scumbag spits on an officer I want to split a skull myself (which is prolly why the Navy took my baton).
To sum all this up, I'm kinda in between Joe Citizen and O'Malley the Cop. Society (or our communities) want certain living conditions and let me know it in no uncertain terms. They don't want Sammy Sportbike deciding that he can determine his own safe speed anywhere. That's because too many vehicle operators only THINK they know. And that's what it boils down to. Communities bitch, I pass a law, then I ask the P.D. to enforce it. Sure, Kieth Code can prolly be safe at 140 mph alot of the time. But how do I know the next little poser is safe?
I haven't been unlucky enough to run into very many assholes with a badge. Granted, I carry my D.L. with my alderman badge and that usually settles things down. But if there is a severe problem brewing out there with asshole cops, then by all means I'm going to make sure my representative (be it alderman, state rep, states attorney, whatever) is going to know about it. And make sure your friends do the same. And don't give up. Votes matter. Become an activist. If there is truly a big problem, elected officials need to hear about it. Lord knows I gotta hear about it!!!
(Disclaimer: Yes I speed all the time. Yes I know it's kinda hypocritical)

...we're more free than most, but we have rules that we must abide to live in our 'land of the free'...some old rules are out of step...some new rules are very much in step
...the roads and the people driving on it are not the same and it was 50-100 years ago...attitudes about self respect and respect for others have steadily gone down hill no matter what you want to attribute it to...it's more violent...the 'rules have changed', as they say on the Dodge commercials...and in a way, that's too bad...I traveled for the first time last year to Europe and spent four weeks there...yeah, they may have higher or no speed limits, but that's it...to speed or not to speed, to run or not to run...you don't know just how good we have it here in the U.S. until you travel to Europe or Asia...the punishment is more 'severe' in some places...maybe that's why they don't run as much....

Born Free
Felony for running. That's all some hotshot rookie need's to run over me over with his cruiser. They shoot people for misdermeanor's in Cin, Ohio. Or have'nt you heard?
I have alway's ran, and i will continue to do so. If some rookie decide's to chase me and wad's his car into a family going to church, Shame on the rookie or veteran. He entered a no win race for him. By the way i thought the radio was your all's way of catching a person? Why do you need V-8's
But tell your buddy's officer. Do not chase Sportbike's. They will not catch them. and i have never been caught. I only consider myself an average rider.
Give a young man a badge, sidearm and a v-8 sedan and he think's he's god. Until he come's accross me.
Disclaimer" Ride at your own risk. But don't be a wuss.
By the way is it worth it for an officer to put his life or job on the line chasing me for speeding. Let's be real. I do own the fastest thing on the highway.

Oh brother....
Zx12RNinja...this is a dead topic...pun intended...I think you'll find few here that share your views about running...I think we're mostly a 'mature audience' with families and know when and where to exploit our 12R's and our own potential and abilities...nothing wuss about that...but we're not just 'old' per say, but perhaps more mature when it really counts with some experience and wisdom to share about our very serious bikes and even how we've managed to survive all these riding years...to each his/her own...

... I've started to become weary of how this thread has "deviated" from it's original direction and has degenerated to just a (YAWN!) pissing contest. If it either doesn't change direction or just drop off the page, I might have to drag out my "pastor's robe" and make this thread "disappear".

No one owes any apologies...
... since "open debate" and the chance to disagree, are cornerstones of this forum. Though I don't "run" this site, I have been given the honor to moderate this forum. I believe that with this honor, comes a responsibility. It's a responsibility to fish, frEEk and Mad Dog, but even more importantly... to it's to the members.
Being one who's "home" is LA Busa's 12R forum (I was the 102nd "original" member within the first 2 weeks of that site's existence), I came to believe in the importance of the forum's openess and the chance to share opinions of radically different viewpoints. Notice, I did not say "views"... I said "viewpoints". In other words, "views" with a "point".
I am NOT "repremanding" or "punishing" anyone. Actually, I encourage those that disagree to voice the opinions. On this thread, that has been acomplished. I felt that as the first page of this thread developed, this was going to be a real good thread. That's why I personally give this thread a FIVE STAR rating. It still is a good thread.
Still, it has come to this... the "views" have been shared and the "points" have been made. Seeing as this thread has run it's course, I have chosen to lock this thread. If the membership disagrees with this action, I AM MORE THEN WILLING to hear about it and I will heed it.
Again, I'm not saying that ANYONE has done ANYTHING "wrong" or "against the rules". It's just this thread has made it's point and so it should be.
Thank you,
Pastor Elk
