I have the stockers. If comfort is what your looking for, upgrade your gloves.

I haven't had gel grips, but I did have a set of foam grips once. When I replaced them with stock type grips, I couldn't believe how much sharper he bikes handling felt. It was almost like a new bike. Based on that experience, I would never use anything that would reduce the amount of feedback coming through the bars.
What I did to give my hands a break was to install a throttlemeister throttle lock. It's a neat piece that looks like the stock bar ends, but when you twist it, it will hold the throttle at a set point. That way I could take my hand off the throttle and rest it when it began to go numb. Made a huge difference for long distance riding comfort.

gloves....sometimes yes, sometimes no..depends on how I feel and if I can find them when it's time to ride. And yes, the bars were stock.
If you want some gel for compfort but don't want to give up sharpness when riding the twisties, I recoomend gel palmed gloves. I had a pair of those(lost them when I totalled my bike). they were really comfortable and I could take them off when I wanted to feel the front end feedback.

Stock bars and grips. Always wear gloves. Leather lifting gloves for puttering around town and Joe Rockets when I suit up for anything faster than 30 mph. My fingers are so stubby that anything too thick in the palm area (or bigger diameter grips) effects my reach to the levers.

Alway's wear gloves.....Not always easy to buy a pair when you wear and XS.....
I did replace my grips with a set of aftermarket but that was only for appearance. I have talked to a couple cruiser's and they loved the gel grips but they were wearing very light leather gloves and long haul riding.

I don't have a wife! So I guess I better "protect" the closeest thing I have to one... my palms! I always were gloves (while riding)!
Speaking of "grips"... I have been using Pro Grip's #719 Dual Compound grips for some time. I've gone through about 3 sets. I guess I've been happy enough with them that I haven't really thought about using any other grip. The only problem I've had with them is that the softer inner part of the grip can get torn up when tying the bike down with a Canyon Dancer. I just wrap the grips before sliding the on the Canyon Dancer.

I use Pro Grip Gels (Green of course) mainly because I get a better grip. First I have almost huge hands, second I find that a slightly larger grip gives you more leverage on the throttle and reduces fatigue. Also I have this nasty habit of lofting the front wheel whenever possible and that grip helps alot. Foam grips will insulate you from the bars too well, gel doen't.

Re: gloves I always wear leather gloves. I make my living with my hands (machinist).
You can buy vented gloves for summer riding. And lets face it, they make cool looking gloves these days (I'm a poser). -ZXtra

I was thinking about GEL grips but have not found any good sites with selections that arent mostly motocross grips.
Do GEL grips really make any kind of difference?
Any suggestions besides "go jump in the lake!" ??
Any input would be welcome, thanks!
Bags
Progrip Gel Superbike grips. They feel soft and don't feel as slick when wet. $7.95 at the dealership. Have an impact driver to remove bar ends handy. They are put on with Loc-Tite.

2nd most important piece of safety equipment, right afer a helmet, are gloves. How in the hell do you change your bandages if you hands are also bandaged?
