Dyno run files... PLEASE HELP!

Does anyone out there have ANY of their dyno runs in their computers? They are usually named "DYNORUN.001", "DYNORUN.002" and so on. I can also read "DJR" files. If you do, would you mind sending them to me? Please? I'd like to get as many as possible.

What I'm wanting to do is to closely analyze how different modifications affect the bike and more importantly, at what RPM range. I'm really interested on how BOTH the HP and torque curves are affected with the addition of pipe, filters, advancers, PCIII/IIIR or anything else.

I know that every bike is different and mods will have equally different affects. I'm doing this just for my own curiousity then anything else. I promise NOT to discuss any aspect of any idividual's runs on this or any other forum and will keep all information about their runs confidential.

On the other hand, if I do see that one pipe or other mod has a general but unique aspect to the curves, I will comment on them, without specifically mentioning who's runs they lead me to such conclusions. I might be e-mailing those that send me files with some additional questions about their runs or the mods made to their bikes.

They don't have to be specifically your bike, but the do need to be of a 12R. I'll also need to know which DJ dyno (DJ 150, DJ 200 or DJ 250) it was done on, if you know.

You can send your dyno runs to adcraft@cei.net and please send all files you can. I'll be very thankful for any help you guys and gals can give me on this.

Thanks,
Pastor Red Elk

That seem's to be the case with most folks

Yeah, it's kind of a bummer that no one has their runs on anything but paper (or doesn't want their runs out in the public).

Most folks either forget or don't realize that they can get a copy of their dyno runs on a floppy or have them e-mailed. Of course, you'd have to bring your own floppy or make arrangements for the e-mailing BEFORE the run (in most cases).

Red, I have files but the info for each run isnt always entered into the notes in the run. I typically group my runs with certain modifications and also by the particular dyno I used. So without all the data that goes with a particular run its hard to compare.
I have used three and they are very close but not exactly the same. Typically one of them reads 3-4 hp lower than the others. The other three are all VERY close when comparing corrected numbers.

I can share some of the more interesting runs of my bike.
I cannot share the files from other zx12s except for two zx12s that the owners gave me the ok to do whatever I wanted with the runs.

I would have to find some time to transfer notes so you would know what your looking at.

I got 'em swft!

Thanks for sending 'em. It will actually be a while before I get to really play with them. We're really swamped at work and I'm also helping a friend with his Duc. I'm in the process of going over it mechanically and also we going to try to create some decals to make his '98 916 look like the '01 996 Troy Bayliss replica. It's kinda tough since the bodywork (especially the lower fairings) between the two are different.

Y2K, after givin it some thought, "detailed" notes are not that necessary. I regulated my self to the fact that even with correction factors, all the other variables involved in dyno runs from different dyno locations and operators will hardly paint a super accurate picture.

Actually, what I'm looking for is characteristics of the HP and torque curves that are relatively consistant with the runs. It's more to give me a better understanding of the 12R engine's performance. If anything, it will probably just cause me to ask a whole lot of stupid questions about stuff that I wouldn't even understand the answers to!

Still, anything that you can send, please do so at your convienence. There is no hurry. I SERIOUSLY doubt that I'll "uncover" anything that wasn't already common knowledge to those familiar with how an engine works.

It's more of a personal "curiousity" thing.

I agree Red. Using runs for comparing "graph shapes" will show you the tuning of the pipes.

I'll get somthing out to you at some point.
