OIL CHANGE ISSUES OK Guys - I'm ready for my first oil change.
As with anything I've messed with in the past, I can usually disassemble things real well. It's putting them back together that's usually more difficult!!!!
I'm confident I can get the left side fairing off easily. How difficult is it to put back on? Any tips?
Also, I've read in other topics that the drain plug gasket needs to be replaced each time. Is this true from other's experiences?
Thanks for your input

I'd say if you can get those cheesy fasteners off the front of the fairing, you shouldn't have any trouble getting the fairing back on. Make sure you tuck the front under the headlights properly before putting any fasteners back in. I've never heard of replacing the drain plug gasket. I believe it's an aluminum washer. Mine's been out more times than I care to remember and no problems.

Ditto on the washer - no probs. When you put the fairing back on, start from the front, sliding it up and forward into place, making the aforementioned tab slides up into place. Put the allen head bolt in next, the one that fastens the fairing to the cylinder. Next, put the three forward screws in, fastening the forward edge of the left panel to the fairing upper. Get down where you can eyeball the tabs that interleave along the bottom split and make sure they are properly in place at the rear of the fairing, on the underside. Then put the other allen bolt in, at the rear of the bike. Starting from the front, put the screws in that fasten the bottom of the fairing to the other half. After that's all done, put in the screw and plastic fastener into the inner panel. Leave a little bit of the plastic fastener's threads showing, and it will come out much, much easier next time.
