tren... I understand where you're coming from...
understand our position...
It's the mere concept of asking for "donations" (and I put that in quotes for a reason) that we are opposed to... And I say "we" because I can assure you that the other admins of this site feel the same way.
Anyways.. enough of that topic... back to your originally scheduled programming!

Fish, you have some cool digs here, I'm glade I came over, that other site, I just got tired of all the conflict and everyone always expecting me to mitigate between the parties to calm shit down, the pressure was overwhelming.
I am much more relaxed now!

I take donations on my site because of a request of a few members, but I don't ask. No ads either.
Everything is out of pocket, mine. If someone does donate to the site I send the money to charity.

That's because you have integrity, Dave. I would expect nothing less from you! 
For 2 years this site was out of my pocket. Then we picked up a few sponsors who help out. Today, much of it is still out of my pocket (and freeks, and PK's,,, and any other member who steps up to the plate)

sorry fellas... dont know anything about the inner workings of the other site. We're far too busy around here with new model releases and product reviews to worry about that sort of stuff. As it seems his site is hosted in his house (?) I've heard some people say.. then I imagine these are the sorts of problems you tend to have with that sort of "home" setup.
I'm sure they will solve their probs and be back online sometime
(?? Buy him out?? Right  ... buying back our own information.. sounds like a great deal to us )

Don't worry WD, you can make it up with his "70-140 percent return, no risk investment" plan!! Actually that should be your retirement plan: at that rate you'll quickly be a multimillionaire! I just wish I could be in on it!
(Seriously, I do really hope you get your money back or your shirts. I would certainly think you would, even despite the "investment" promotion which commonly would be thought not to be too promising an indicator for integrity, however it's hard to believe Dale would actually rip people off on the shirts even so.)
As for why he might want to shut the site or whatever problems currently being experienced, perhaps someone can relay to him that if he would just not be so uptight about wanting to block (censor) opinions and ideas he doesn't agree with from being posted on his site, he would not be having those problems. The desire to block what he wants to block, or to block any views, is just stupid anyway, people will continue having the opinions that they do, and surely cannot be worth all the trouble it has caused. He used to have a lot of people liking and respecting him, he'd earned a place in the community with what he was doing, but now he is throwing that all away with both hands and for what???

BTW, if Dale does want to close the site, personally I would think it a good idea if a number of us members or ex-members of the site pooled together equally to purchase the archived material if his fee would be reasonable (assuming this is the case at all.) Not necessarily to run as a new site for active posting, that seems totally unnecessary given the existence of Bikeland, but just as an archive, and possibly bouncing people to here if they go to that URL.
I would be in for it myself. No reason to let all that be lost.
