Tail Light Troubles
I'm trying to trace down a problem that recently cropped up on my 02 ZX-12R, any help would be appreciated.
I've recently installed a USB Power Commander, and a direct power cable to my battery for my Garmin GPS V. I'm guessing that one of the above mods has caused a problem with my tail light. I noticed last weekend that my tailight was not lit during normal operations. When I press the brake lever, the two bulbs light up fine, but once I release the brake lever, I get no lights at all in the rear. BTW, the turn signals work fine.
I've checked the tail light fuse, and all the connections in the tail. I know my Power Commander get it's power from the tail light circuit. Could this be the cause?
Also, I recently pulled out the battery tray, to connect a direct power cable for my Garmin GPS. Could I have disconnected something during the process?

may seem obvious, but did you check to see if the bulbs were burnt out (running light) as they are a seperate fillament from the brake lights?

I was out on a ride when a friend mentioned that one of my tailight bulbs was out, so we pulled into a shop and I replaced the bulb (which was cracked). Since then, only the brake lights have worked, not the normal tail light. I didn't check the other bulb because both lit up when the brake lever was pressed. So, I have one bulb that I know is new, and the other is questionable. If the other bulb is bad would that stop the tailight from working on both bulbs?

get a tester and test the bulbs. Then check for power. Then use it to test the fuses.

yep, check bulbs and then fuses. i would highly doubt it would be anything farther than that simple scope. let us know what you find...

Went out this morning and bought two new bulbs (remember, I replaced one when the problem first popped up) installed them, and the tail light is working again. I guess both bulbs were gone. I went with the 2357LLs, instead of the normal 1157 bulbs after reading the info on this page.

Thanks for everyone's help.
