cam degreeing

How long should it take to set up and degree the cams on a 12?I'm just looking to see how far I'll get whacked. When I dropped off my bike, the cams were sitting unbolted in the head.

I do not think it can be done with the engine in the Frame. Just no room for the Dial Indicator

I've done mine with the motor in the frame several times. It can be done.

I have the kit that Mad Mike sells. Works great. (some advertising for you Mike )

The actual process is not one day, but at a shop that is the reasonable time to have your motor, if they get started in the morning. If the motor is in the frame then all bets are off and you are looking at several days of shop time. If you have never done it before, it will take you awhile, and will be quite difficult in the frame.

I also have Mike's kit. It is complete and a good product.

What kit does mm have? If its a cam degreeing kit for motorcycles then I have one but if it make degreeing cams on a 12 a little easier with the motor still in the frame then I need it if not, I have degreed cams on a 12 with the motor in place. 6hrs tops

It sucks!!! I have added 1 little gizmo, to help with the Dial, and you have to remember to bend the end of the brass plunger 90deg. at the tip. that way you can get on the bucket easily. either way it still sucks!
just getting ready to do one tonight or tomorrow.
Oh I can answer emails tonight. been way busy!!!

I have done a couple on the bike ...Just had to make something to get it to work but like they say itz still a pain. I don't think they could have come up with anything worst than the 12's frame being the air box.

Happy to have gotten the bike back,$200 cams degreed in the frame. Now it won't fire.I have spark and fuel.Time to go thru the whole bike and see if I forgot any connectors.I'm getting this strange idea I'm not supposed to be riding this year.

Check your compression. I had my intake cam off one tooth and it had 60psi in each hole...oops. It won't run like that.

the cams were degreed 105/102 I believe and it has also been mapped.I don't know the compression but I certainly can feel it when I turn the motor over manually.

Why would you degree them at 105/102? Stock I think is 104/102. I'm not trying to be a smart ass. Just a little curious why you would pick those numbers...
