Pit-Bull Spools and A1 12
Okay, either I am missing something really stupid here or something ain't right.
After years of screwing around with my POS LP rear stand, I decided to buy new front and rear Pit-Bulls for my baby (2000 A1) during her rebuild.
I ordered Pit-Bulls 10mm F0023-000 Spool kit in the anodized black aluminum.
I have triple checked the numbers on their website. I ordered what I was supposed to, and the bag is marked as the correct PNO.
The kit came with:
1) Two spools that are 23.5mm wide
2) Two mounting studs that are 58.5mm long
3) Two "spacers" that are 6.2 mm wide
Now if I put each spool together like I think it should be (stud through spool until its head is flush with the outside portion of spool and spacer on the back side of the spool) I run out of thread on the stud going into the swingarm waaaaay before things are right or even close to snug.
My guess is they sent me the wrong studs (too long) but.....
Any help from anybody who has used these spools would be appreciated.

Hey Bob, could there be some crap built up in the bolt holes or on the threads? That is the problem I had when I put my spools on. I have the black Pit Bull spoolss as well. The side with the chain was really difficult to screw in. I hosed it out with carburetor cleaner and ran a tap through it and then they worked perfectly. I don't know if this will help you or not, but I hope it does.

I know that your bike it clean as the day it rolled off the showroom, maybe even cleaner. That turned out to be the problem when I tried to install mine, hopefully you get it figured out.

You might wanna check the threads. I just pulled them off my partners 2000, they are 10MM(1.25 threads) and approx.60mm long. They are the same on my 2003. I'm not 100% they are pitbulls, I'll call Sarge12R and see if they are.
__jeff
just got off the phone with sarge. the ones in my garage are pitbull, but looking on the pitbull site, they are a bit different(the ones I have look like a big spool that you use for sewing thread). The hex bolts are 50mm in length, the head is 10mm high, the overall lenght is 60mm. Hope this helps.

Okay, that last photo -
My studs are 1 and 1/2 inches (about 38 mm) from the top of the head to the start of the threads whereas in the photo yours are 1 inch (about 25mm) or, you have 1/2" more thread than I do.
With that in mind you can probably see what I am talking about. I am running out of thread about 1/2" short of where things should be.
I'll call Pit-Bull tomorrow. That confirms what I was thinking.... Wrong studs.
Thanks for the pic man, that is what I needed.

Thanks again for the pic Jeff. That narrowed it down post-haste.

I asked Pierre to send me some of his that are very wide and stick waay out and rotate so even I cannot miss.
Blitz I am glad to see that someone else has the LP Stand. Using it caused my bike to fall over had really hurt Peggy with a small cut over her eye a Maxton in 2003 I still have it because I have not figured out what to do with it.

I got a pitbull for the back and a LP stem stand for the front...it was saturday and I needed a damn front stand so I got the LP for 89 with all the pins
I could not find any documentation on where it was made but all I can hear in the back of my mind is "an 8 year old chinese boy made this"

Here is my theory on LP stands:
Only two were ever made.
They have circulated all over the world, those two stands, so we are talking about the same stands.
A friend gave me mine. I gave it to a friend (no shit, he actually likes it for his gixxer6k race bike), but I am sure he will someday pass it on to another poor soul (maybe somebody here).
Its the circle of life.

Actually, there 'were' 3 original LP stands. The poor soul that i traded for the helmet ---dropped his wifes katana a couple days later(via the LP stand)......He put the #3 stand behind his Hemi-ized 4X4 and flatened it.....i almost pissed myself when he told me the story...He even brought me one of the wheels. He's still pissed, but I WARNED him.
