the Etrex legend is a very nice unit for the money. It will be the next one i buy for work. I have used the Magellen and the Garmin12 and the Etrex is the easiest to use.
For my next bike GPS I will have Street Pilot IIIc....its very pricey, but a very nice unti, with many, many features. I wnat the color screen and the options to down load maps for whatever area I am riding in at the time, and it will transfer to the car easy enough......

BTW - There is more than one version of the eTrex. The Legend is the best bang for the buck.

If you dont need maps, then you can go to a lower grade Etrex and pick one up for less than $100 US......we were getting them with military discount for $89 US over in the desert.

How is the B/W screen on the Garmin eTrex Ledgend ? Is it worth another $100 for the C model?

you can pick up the entry level garmin for less than $100, and they are bulletproof. I've used them in the army for about 6 years now. for the extra $40 bucks, there are a lot of cool extras and the maps come in great when travelling. I'd splurge, but the cheap one will do what you were initially asking about.

you will be glad you upgraded to this:
