Help with 9K RPM stuttering!!! please please

Fellas I'm pulling my hair out!

I've examined the battery cable leads
I've dismantled the fuel tank, drained it, blew it out. ( I did find the fuel filter in there, uh, what a stupid spot for that...)
I've removed the Powercommander PCIIIR - didn't change anything

I made 5 passes at the 1/4 mile strip

Pass #1 Bike was warmed up in the pits pretty good, idled up in staging, burnout box, full run, ran like poopy when I was in 4th gear about 6K rpms. Continued to fire like crap even sometimes as low as 3K rpms. Coming back on return road died momentarily 3 times when rolling into the throttle. Idling it sounded like a dead hole......sucks this was my only time trial due to ripping off the fuel tank and cleaning it.....

Pass #2 First time run since we pulled the tank off and cleaned it. Pushed the bike all the way up to burnout box, quickie burnout and seemingly good run. 10.58 at 140 MPH, I dunno, I was watching my opponet, seemed like there was a little hickup towards the end.

Pass #3 Same thing, spurts of engine shutdown - totally wouldn't go past 9K RPMs

Pass #4 added fuel, thinking low fuel was a problem, WRONG same thing.

Pass#5 Removed Power commander, checked batt connections. Same thing, this time I stayed in first gear, over and over checking the RPMS at which this kicked in - 9K every time and I did it about 6 times before it was time for the return road.

The other bike guys suggested it might be a boot around the spark plug? More bad fuel? I dunno, The FI light comes on so I guess I got a code in there somewhere.....

How do I check the codes?
What do you guys think it is?

BTW it's a RED :P 2000 A1 model

This all seemed to start after I splashed in come C14 VP fuel........don't lecture me on the C14, I now know it was stupid... Did the fug up my injectors maybe??? I dunno, I'm gettin peeved. I live 25 miles from sturgis, the HD's are moving in for rally week, and I want to be in top form!

Did you find water in the tank when you drained it ?
What fuel did you put back in it ?
Sounds fuel related to me.

If you have an FI light, Something in the EFI went wrong.

Fuel related issues do not have any FI lights associated with them.

Yep, psycho is right. If the FI light is coming on you've got bigger problems than fuel flow.

Have you checked the plugs and ignition sticks? Check those next. Although I don't see that causing the FI light to come on either. You're best bet is to hope to hear from Red or Doug, they will sort you out.

When mine started the Stumble, I found that the Fuel pump was not operating full time. Then I bypasses it (Jumped the Relay 2 end wires and the bike ran fine. I checked the Codes and found a #45

There is a Yellow Wire with a female end in your tail section. Put something in there to ground it. Then turn on the ignition The first digit will be long blinks and the second one will be short. I had 4 long and 5 short. After testing, I found that my ECU was bad. I am waiting for a New one

Thanks guys!

I'll check the codes and see what I've got. I keep thinking it's fuel.

Vincent, a ECU huh? How much $$$ do they go for?

did you test anything further to find the ECU was definetely the problem?

kawboy, no airshifter, no wimpy boy extentions. Just me, my 12R, and alot of people in the crowd coming up to me saying, "wow, that's pretty descent you're keeping up with those car tire'd bikes, that's thing is pretty damn fast!"

----wonder what it'll be like when it's running good

Yes I sent the ECU to OldKawboy and he swapped them back and forth in his bike and the EXACT Same thing Happened! No fuel Pump. I have found that by connecting two wires in the Relay, the Pump works perfectly. $800 List and about $550 dealer and about $250 to $300 Used.

I am fairly sure that I ruined it myself when I mounted it vertically and wrapped tape all around it ti keep it from falling off. They get really warm and My thought is it over heated.

I would never use a SPit Fire!

I have a new plug I am manufacturing called a "Quattro-Fire".

Its got 4 braided copper electrodes and you'll get 80 MPG and 2x the HP throughout the life of the plug.

I promise.

(your mileage may vary).

What part number BOSCH, jokers, who'd run a splitfire ???!!!???

herk what you are describing could be a bad ground to your power commander it is exactly what i went through same drops in power and rpms. thought i was out of gas also.the only other thing i found to be suspicous was the fuel,my bike does not run good on race fuel.the only diffrence in what you descibe is the fi light .when mine came on it was due to the tps.it has always been a sensor when that light came on in my case. hope your in top form when the harleys come.

So the SplitFire comment was a joke, or you are backing off and trying to regain some modicum of respect? LOL

Looked awful serious to me....
