how i did it

Warrior,
I used the aircraft stripper to get most of the gunk off but I didnt have a nice washbasin with a hand squirter at home that I would be willing to put stripping chemicals in.
So I ended up trying to wipe all the gooey paint off with paper towels on a large sheet of plastic outside.
Needless to say it was a mess and about 20% of the paint ended up being spread around and re-dried on rim because I couldnt wash it off nicely.
So I ended up taking them to work (huge 5 foot wide stainless sink there) and scrubbing the paint off with 3M pads and scouring powder. (not an easy task)
After that, I wetsanded with 600 grit sandpaper.
And for final polish I used 3M aluminum polish and a buffing wheel set from sears ($10.00) that includes a mandrel you can clamp into your drill.
