popping on decel
I know I know, old news. Get a PCIIIr & fix it. Well, I'm pretty broke, so looking for the low-cost fix for the decelleration "popping." I seem to recall some were doing a resistor install or something back when these guys first came out? TPS adjustment?
It's mostly noticable slowing for stoplights or downshifting for corner entry. Would be nice if I could cut it down a bit...? FYI, it's a A1L 00' w/K&N's & Akrapovic EVO full system...otherwise engine is stock.
Suggestions?

Usually lean or retarded makes it Pop more. Get and Ignition advancer and put in just +2.5 degrees of timing. Also set the Idle at 1,100 in that area as opposed to 950.

Ditch the kleen air system. That will take care of most of it.

I used the Kleen Air system for the crank Case Vacuum Mod.
Adding a "Little" timing will make the engine a "little" Quicker of the mark then Hold you back a little on Top end.

If you have a PC3, add fuel to the 0% throttle map. Usually about 5% will do it. Put as much fuel in as I have done (For Cooling after a NOS Run) and you will see 2 foot long flames out of the pipe

hehe....I've heard mine "blue flames" too from following riders. It's not bad really, just a couple pops (some quite loud) when slowing for corners. Yesterday we were cruising thru upscale Oakland's "Skyline Drive" ($$$ million+ homes), & as I slowed for a curve I notice set of tits jogging/walking dog...POW!!! Goes the big beastie. FLINCH! Goes the chick (& poodle), she must have jumped a foot or two in the air! Then turns to us with a very foul look on her face & muttering something ...
Was kind of funny really; & I don't typically worry about upsetting rich people. But lately they have been coming down hard on "race bikes" in the area (remember my Mayor Jerry Brown post?), & the cops are impounding bikes & the like for "racing" on Skyline Drive. Guess when the rich complain; the gov't finally moves...
It's not that bad really...just a pop or two/three on deceleration; doesn't always do it. Bike runs just friggin' great; that's why w/all the failures mentioned here it's the reason I never put a PCIIIx on it. Just was wondering what I could do to improve the backfiring situation without spending much (if any) $....
Thanks,
ebd
