Find the person who designed the access to the sparkplugs...take him out back...

What the heck is the beans suppose to do? How can I gain entry to do something simple...change the sparkplugs on my 12. Ozzy said it was tight, to use the tool that was included with the bike's tool kit, but I still dont see how I am suppose to gain access or leverage or any type of entry to those sparkplugs, let alone the middle two.

What do you do?

Dino told me has to pull the engine out to do his...please tell me there is an easier way here.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........

I had no problem putting mine in even with my mitts.Once you take that black plastic shield off and chuck it.I used a large flathead screwdriver and gave it a little twist under the coil and it pops right up.

I say we take the whiners out back, make them work on something truly difficult then set'em back next to a 12 and wait for the praises.

He musta been playin a joke on you, lol.

The hardest part is getting the kleen air BS GONE. After that, the hardest part is getting the fairings off. The coils come out with a wiggle, or like Alive said, carefully use a flat head screw driver. Then use the tool in the kit and you're good to go. CAKE.

Maybe I am not taking off enough...I might need some help here. I dont mind doing it, just cant get access in there.

What is the black plastic shield???

And I still have my entire engine COMPLETELY stock. The entire Kleen system is still in there as it was from day one. Does that change anything for how I get in there or access it?

I'm with Beans.... "Take the person out back and work him over"! Same thing with Battey box/tray take him out back and work him over too. Oh... almost forgot, take the the person out back who design the clutch baskets for the 00-01 and work him over. Better yet how about taking the person(s) out back and work them over for designing the 12r to begin with

Start on your left side (drivers side in a car)...unplug all the bullshit that prevents access to the plugs and move it out of the way.

Then go find the kleen air removal instructions and get rid of all that bullshit (should be somewhere archived..search for it).

Then unplug all the coils (4)....and yank the coil sticks out...I find a long set of needlenose pliers works for this...or a big flathead screwdriver (twist the head up so the coil pops off the plug).

Then cut/rip/hammer/chopsaw/whatever that black plastic piece over the valve cover off...BE SURE NOT TO DAMAGE IT...youll need it later.

Now pop the bendy tool into the hole...and use a ratchet or whatever is handy to break the plug loose...you should be able to unscrew it by hand the rest of the way and pull it out using the tool. VOILA....yer done.

[haynes]Reassembly is the opposite of disassembly[/haynes]

Now for that black plastic thing....pretend its a frisbee and toss it in the garbage

you dont need to get your hands in there at all....I used to use a 12" extension and a swivel joint to get the plugs out.

I have since gone to harbor freight and picked up a 90deg rachet to make the process even more cake.

Besides..small hands make your penis look bigger!

" (drivers side in a car)..."

Think of the ZX12 as a "CAR" with two wheels it will make it a lot easier (Mentally) to deal with.

Remove the Air inlet covers
Remove the Lower Fairing
Remove the coolant expansion Container
Remove the Kleen Air vlaves and Hoses
Remove the Rubber cover (About 3/16 thick flat rubber piece)
Remove the the Plastic Shield that connect also to the front upper fairing (Curse a little before you do that it helps) Also modify the back part that makes it hard to get in and out

Last
Remove the Spark plug Stick Coils (NOW!! you can use that wrench Kawasaki supplied )

Just take him out back and show him a Hayabusa, where none of these items are a problem.

I'm here to call bullshit!!!! I said I do mine when the engine is out,.....not that you HAVE to take it out! I wouldn't WANT to do it with the engine in place 'cuz you wouldn't know if any itty bitties fell through the hole while changing them out.

123.78 and 154.91, these are the numbers you must exceed to avoid testing positive for BS.
