wheel fitment
Do you guys know if an 18 inch wheel would fit the front of my 12.

depends on the size of the tire u mount on it for one. if the outside diameter is bigger, u'd have to move the fender (obviously) and check if there is still clearance between the tire and rad when the forks are fully compressed. of course u'd need to make sure the axle fits right first of all. also, an 18" wheel would likely slow handling (racers sometimes go to 16.5)

I going with a 300mm rear that 18inches and it would look better with an 18in front. I guess I will have to try it a see. I have seen a Busa with the same set up and it made a nice difference.

the wrong color (red) but i still love you.
After all the zx12 is one of the most flexible bike ever.

Can you post a picture of that busa or any bike with that size tire on it?
What other changes do you have to make to accomodate that size tire?

Clearance with regard to bottoming out can't be too big an issue, since what matters there is the radius, which is changing only half an inch from the wheel (maybe a little more from the tire.)
And dropping the front at the triple trees by half an inch, equivalent thing really, is not that major.
Compared to the change of going to a 300 rear the handling differences from changing the front diameter a little would have to be way less. Maybe even an improvement from being more balanced out, but I don't know.
No matter what the handling will be killed, though still probably not as bad as the more extreme choppers. No one seems to have ever reported "even" a 250 as being good-handling. 300 would have to be for show or you-know-the-handling-is-terrible-and-you-account-for-it, very moderate riding. After all you can drive a big truck and it does not handle well either but can it be driven? -- absolutely when you account for it.
Another possible idea -- maybe it would be better (for your purpose) to use a wider front wheel and tire, but still 17 inches?
Probably depends mostly on what tire you want, whether you go 17" or 18".
