...if ya' lived closer, I'd be happy to break it in for you (the 2000 break-in method) so that when you heal properly, you'll be all set to ride it the way it supposed to be ridden...just GO!

hey man! i appreciate the offer, but its supposed to be 62 degrees on thursday so i'm going to take it out for a ride. according to the owners manual+the sticker on the tach, theres only a 1000mi break-in required on the 02. what's the deal? is it 1 or 2000? other people say break it in the way you're going to ride it. is the break in really necessary or is it just to give the rider a little time to get used to the bike?

I picked up my new '02 five days ago and I can honestly say that the handling is excellent, very little difference between this bike and my '00 9r. The ride is extremly comfortable and there is absolutely no engine vibration in the bars. The best of both worlds, great handling and insane power!!!

Fuck Breakin it in.............
Ride the MF like you're gonna ride it. If it's worth a fuck it'll hold up, if not, atleast it will scatter while it's under warranty. I went by the letter on the break in for almost 200 miles, then said to hell with this shit. It's been rev limiter city ever since.

thanks for the responses. on 2/21 i decided to ride despite what the doc said about my shoulder.i agree w you laidover. it can hold any line you want and it is vibration free and has awesome power. by the end of this year i should probably have a big-bore kit, cams and head work.i'm shooting for 210-215 hp at the rear, and according to some dyno sheets i've seen, that's very possible w/the 1270 kit

Madman, there is something that was brought to my attention yesterday and I think you may be interested. Above the front blinkers and behind the ram air intake there exists, as I'm sure you are aware, a plain naked spot. I have been told that the new Pontiac Trans Am has a ram air decal that will fit perfectly. I'm going to order a charcoal colored one for the red '02. I'll let you know how it looks.

Glue gone = lens gone
The most important thing about the break-in sticker is to get it off of the tach. Quick. That glue sucks. Follow the break-in to the letter.
