zx12 crankshaft balancer

I am freshening my engine again, and have in the past heard rumor of removing the crankshaft balancer. Has anyone done this and what advise do you have to prvent tedious troubleshooting....

I think you have to split the cases...It's been a while since I've been in there. I'm at work right now and don't have the manual in front of me.

Good that answers that, but you can leave the entire top end intact, and just split the cases and pull it out. button up the cases again and away you go!

The shaft will be able to be pulled straight out,I'm not sure the counterbalance will drop straight down. With my cases empty it looks like you could slide it in back of the oil rail to come out, however without the rods and crank in place,I can't say for sure. You didn't say if your crank was balanced or not,Idon't even know if that matters.

The diameter is too large to drop down and out. You MUST split the cases!

I would want to "ballance" the pistons, rods, crank...at the same time anyway...
